Say good by to the Rotor at Lake Compounce

I thought the Lake Compounce Rotor might have been the one that moved from Kennywood...makes me wonder if it is now heading for Dutch Wonderland... :)

Hershey's Rotor (#27 on this map) was located right next to Comet in Comet Hollow. Fortunately for me, the restrooms were right next door.

Going way, way back, I want to remember the Rotor being located closer to the front of the park near the arena. I'm thinking this had to be 1972, because it was before the Agnes flood and before Rhineland and the current entrance.

I can't remember exactly how the park used to be laid out. But I do remember that the sharp curve in the road to the left of Vater's map used to be a "T." And the right leg of that T continued right in front of the arena and ended at Park Avenue where that crazy little jog is shown. That road was the end of the park. On our school trips, the buses would dump us off in front of the arena, so the entrance had to be near there.

So could the rotor have been in the area where the Giant Wheel was, and is now the location of Starship America? I have some selective amnesia regarding that trip to the park.

My bad, got my info via word of mouth. But it was probably an assumption based on folks having memories of the one at Riverside and the parks being fairly close to each other.
