You know what's really messed up with all this and this is just based on my gut reaction to this auction?

A judge ordered the owner of the park (not the property) to do this auction to pay off $170,000 in debt that he racked up. He also owed around $83,000 to the village of East Dundee for back taxes and utility bills (water).

The Typhoon coaster alone just paid off that debt.

Since the owner of the property has interest in keeping it a park supposedly, the owner of the park could have just sold that coaster, paid off the debt in full, and transferred ownership to someone else without losing any other assets on the property.

But since that didn't happen and everything got sold off except the buildings, infrastructure, etc., if they are serious on keeping it a park, they basically have to start over.

All I have to say is,,,,, UGHHHHH!!!!!

My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.

Some of those prices seem like they went really high compared to the Erieview auction. The picnic tables here went a lot higher, the Erieview ones went for $150. What model of skate sharpener was there? You can buy a top of the line brand new one for that much. Their tilt-a-whirl went for twice as much, but it may have been in better shape.

On the other hand, if the zamboni was a larger sized model, they got a great deal on it for $3000. Looks like they may have had some smaller models for a good price too.

I have now decided that I want my own cotton candy machine. I need to find one somewhere! Hmmm, the next auction I can go to is 30 mins from where I live. :)

I knew this park was in trouble when I saw Typhoon for sale on Ital well over a year ago. I haven't been to the park in over a decade and was actually wanting to go visit THIS year in early spring. The whole thing makes me sick. This was my "home park" before I had ever even taken my first coaster ride. I wanted to go to the auction but couldn't get off work. It doesn't look like I could have afforded much though.

The sick thing is that Typhoon is still for sale on Ital!

Wow, 3,000 for a Zamboni!?!?!?! that's a steal!

I'll have to consider going to an auction. Can't beat the prices on the tools.

It always amazes me how little those partk auctions actually bring in. But I guess they make sense since the market for used rides just doesn't seem to be there anymore.
For anyone interrested, there are a few items from SV on Ebay right now. Get em' before you can't.

this was a classic park-I went at least 2x a year when I was younger. The last few times I went, the Typhoon was never open. Sucks that I never got to ride it, and that I will never get to take my kids there (when I have them) :)
