Santa Monica coasters recreated in RCT

Posted | Contributed by Jim "Red Phoenix" Chamberlin

Steve Franks has finished up yet another Real World Track Pack. This one is called "Santa Monica Coasters."

Pack Description: Two famous coasters ran on the Santa Monica pier -- the Looff side-friction Blue Streak Racer, and Prior & Church's Whirlwind Dipper. Each were state of the art at the time of their construction in 1919 and 1924.

At www.geocities.com/coasting_ohio you can download Euclid Beach Park and Summit Beach Park. Both are defunct parks from the Cleveland area.
Actually I think it was called Summit Lake Park (that's what it is called now, Summit Lake). The area's nicest high school baseball field is there now.

Sure has to be better than the artificial turf at my high school. Yuck.

Ahhh, the thriller with the modified second hill. They are both nice parks. I thought the Flying Turns were made of Cypress wood Planks, and that is was unpainted, so it may appear brown. Oh well. *** This post was edited by Joe E. on 1/22/2001. ***
It was Summit Beach Park. Summit Beach Park bought Summit Lake Park. For awhile they where competing against each other on opposite sides of the lake.
