Safety is #1 at Holiday World

From talking to Pat at SRM, she indeed wants a dark ride and a very nice carousel for the Christmas area in the future.

Hey Chris--

I just told Mrs. Koch how you keep posting about your scheme with her to get us a dark ride. She laughed gleefully! Poor Will doesn't stand a chance. :) (No pun intended!)

Careful with your word choice. You could start a rash of rumors. :)

See, this is why I cannot wait until Tuesday, when I make my first trip to HW. GregLeg said it best, more reps should attempt to communicate online with the GP. Thanks, Paula.

....ahhhh. The key would have been if I'd written "pun intended."

No, we really don't have anything in the works at this point.

Have a great weekend! Paula

So anywho, Paula, you should suggest changing the Banshee's fuseholders over to fit American make fuses.

When we were blowing $250 German Siemens fuses left and right on our Zierer Flying Carpet last year we got new fuse holders and got the same rating Bussman fuses locally for about $60 a pop. (That's still a lot when you consider we probably used about a thousand of them over the summer, but it's a whole lot better... and we replaced the drive over the winter and haven't blown one yet this year. :) )

Paula, I told her.... "Pat, just give me a call. I have an awesome concept already on paper for you". I didn't see Will while I was at SRM so I didnt get to talk to him about it. :) I asked her if she has seen that IOA carousel, and she said no. I told her, "you must get down there and see it, it's amazing!" You know that saying...whatever Paula and Pat wants ... ;)

Theme parks will NEVER be the same!

I agree. I had posted on the original topic that I felt that the fact that Holiday World's rides kept shutting down is a testament to the park's dedication to rider safety. Keep up the great work, and I look forward to visiting the park in a few weeks.

kpjb, your Carpet was running mighty fine at KennyKon I might add! What a difference. So does this mean yet another ride for the Halloween section? Sweet!

Yea, but when SFWoA's rides close down because they think it might now be safe for the day they get slammed for it by people on the boards. Same with CP. But when it comes to HW, its just alright I guess. Riiiiiiiiight ;)

Dont mind me ;)

kpjb, I'd think that Banshee would be using American fuses, considering that it is an older Chance ride...
At least I think the Falling Star predates Chance outsourcing construction to ARM, anyway...

Question is, what causes a DC motor controller to start popping fuses? :)

Just don't take a Chance on Chaos or you'll get Wipedout.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

I am the one who posted the "Major Problems at Holiday World". I guess I just didn't know all the facts. I'm kinda new to the roller coaster thing, so I had no clue why the Legend kept running at the top of the lift. As for the Banshee, my first thought was, well it's shut down, it must be junk! I guess that was wrong, I am so sorry! I had no ideal I would cause this much confusion. Sorry about that!

I too vote for a Frisbee at HW. BTW how about any Giant HUSS ride. HW is one of my favorite parks. I just wish that I lived closer than Columbus,Oh so I could get a season pass and USE IT. Thank you Koch family, Paula and all of the other people who make HW so GREAT!!!

The pizza and fudge are great. The coasters are great. The water park is a 5-star beauty. Free pop and parking. Free suntan lotion. Friendly staff and a super clean atmosphere. What more could you want in a park, especially when you can get in for $14.95 with a coaster club membership. HW HW HW HW HW........My vote is for HW/SRM......They're the best!!!!!

One of the problems with so many of the new flat rides out there, is that they are so darned expensive to fix.

I would never suggest a smaller park like Holiday World to buy something like a Top Spin, Orbitor or Power Surge. Simple is better, in my opinion. Less stuff to worry about. Less down-time. IMO.

So, as for "perfect" Flat rides at HW, I would say that the better least-expensive choices would be: Chance Yo-Yo, Wisdom Tornado, Dartron Cliffhanger, Used Hrubritz Hydrolic Paratrooper, Mack Musik Express/Caterpiller, Chance Sea Dragon, or a Tea Cup ride.

If you asked me the next best coaster addition to the park is, I would say in like 2 years, consider purchasing a Non-Spinning Wild Mouse. Why non spinning? Because you already have a good collection of spinning rides already.
