Rye

I was at Rye playland last week and I noticed that the Dragon coaster uses bars that run under the track instead of upstop wheels. Is this common?

I belive that it is common on some of the older coasters. Gemini at CP I belive uses them.

Pumpernickel.

No, it's not common, but not unheard of, either.

It is quite common to see upstop pads on older Arrow Mine Train and Kiddie Coasters including Big Bad John at MS, Mine Train at SFOT, Gemini at CP, CCMR at CP, and River King Mine Train at SFStL. The Arrow mine trains built as new on or after 1990 have upstop wheels and in fact Magnum XL-200 didn't open with upstop wheels in 1989, it had upstop pads. With the pads, I have heard make sparks on top of the camel humps.

Other companies have continue to build small kiddie and family coasters with upstop pads but most of them of upstop wheels now days.

But dragon coaster is a wooden coaster.

They also had an SDC ride called Hurricane that was poorly designed. Why would a park with the amount of money that Rye Playland makes buy such a crappy ride?

They dont make much money. They are a small park owned by the city. They are owned by westchester county, and given funds by them because of their historic background. Without those funds, they would not survive on their own.

Edit: By the way, dont ever wise off to me again like you did in the other topic. You are a new member and are making many enimies already. So I would shutup if I were you.

And you're going to do what? Just let the moderators moderate and don't feed trolls.
Now why are you butting in to someone elses buisness? You yourself just said let the moderators handle it. I have been around for a while and know the rules of this site and how it works. Im just telling this new member to not make stupid posts and wise off to people the way he has in his other two threads he started. His name really tells a lot about himself. If you read his other two threads you will undrstand what I am talking about. So lets just all shutup, mind our own buisness and let this thing rest, and not ruin this topic too. :)

Themeparksonline.com (I think) has news articles on Rye's financial troubles.

Getting back on topic, the NADs at Conneaut had just the bar instead of wheels. I have a video that shows many sparks flying out on the crests of hills. Seriously makes me wonder if they ever had a fire. I think the restored PTC (AKA Heaven) has upstop wheels.
