Not too many "Gilmore Girls" fans around here, I reckon, but on last night's series finale, the mother and daughter discussed their plans for a month-long coaster trip in detail.
It started with SFGAdv, moved on to Lake Compounce, then to Coney Island and Cedar Point. They actually mentioned Boulderdash and Millennium Force, and read descriptions of the rides from About.com writers.
Huzzah for non-lame references to coasters in mainstream media.
Also huzzah for my first new topic posted in like two years. I hope it was worth the wait for you. o__0

You said, "I'm gonna run you down." I heard, "I'm an orangutan."

yeah, last night was the series finale and I tivo'd it. American idol and dancing with the stars trumps everything during that time slot. was this coaster trip from last night's episode?

You're right... not too many Gilmore Girls fans around here ;)
But it is nice to hear an instance where coasters make it into the mainstream media. This couldn't have been a thinly-veiled attempt to promote that upcoming "Wife Swap" thing involving coaster families, right?

Good call mentioning MF and not Maverick... ;)

Since I'm sure that Cedar Point was aware of their rides being mentioned on the show, I'm surprised they didn't push for Maverick to be mentioned. When the script was written, I doubt that Maverick's delay was known.

They were consulting About.com's theme park pages...and referenced Arthur Levine several times. (No I don't watch, either ... but Arthur has a link to the show clip on his About.com blog.)
No mention of our coasters ... dopey women, no wonder the show was cancelled! :)

Why would Cedar Point know? Is name dropping something that has to be negotiated in the media?

No, but name dropping is usually something that the producers can score some extra $$'s for if they negotiate.

Yes, I'll admit that I'm a fan of the Gilmore Girls. I'm sad to see the show end.

Here's the link to Arthur's blog:
http://themeparks.about.com/b/a/257384.htmThe clip shows the "girls" consulting his "top coasters" list online.
He only found out about it a week or so ago and sent an email to his e-newsletter list.

^Arthur DOES have Raven in his "best woodie" list, Paula. Might not have ridden The Voyage yet, LOL. He might want to know that Raven is *also* a CCI creation (along with B-Dash and Ghostie), making CCI responsible for 3 of his top-5 woodies. The only non-CCIs in his top-5 were built before CCI was started, and after CCI was gone.
The Gilmore Girls might want to consult a couple more people before planning their trip...LOL! ;)

Great Adventure to Lake Compounce to Coney Island all the way to Cedar Point??? They need to work on their credit-ho-ing skeelz. :)

Yes, Bill, I do know what's on his list. What I said was the Gilmore Girls didn't mention our coasters. No, Arthur hasn't been back out to ride The Voyage yet. He and I whine about it all the time. :)

No, but a lot of companies are into product placement on TV. I was wondering if this was one of those cases.
