Ronbotics out of business...

Ronbotics, the manufacturer of the roller coaster simulator featuring 6 Cedar Point coasters, has apparently shut down.  I and several others in my company (we have 5 machines) have been trying for the last several days to get a hold of them without any luck.  Their distributors are also "in the dark" as to what's going on.  In our business, this is the classic sign that they've gone under.  Unfortunately, there is no new info on their website or any news stories that I could find - which is why I didn't submit this as a news story.

A mock-up of the ride, with the POV video, appeared at an amusement trade show back in 1998.  The completed ride has been available for about a year and a half now, but many units have been plagued with various problems.

I was really looking forward to this ride finally being "worked out" so that they could begin releasing more videos.  *sigh*  That's the way the arcade business is today.

That's too bad. So will machines be tossed now when they break down since they can't be fixed?

Personally, I was surprised they ever sold any. For what they cost, they require a whole lot of "plays" before you ever get any return on your investment.

I think that after spending $12K+ apiece, most operators will try to find new sources for parts.  The only trouble is that most of the problems with the machines have not been hardware related, which makes it MUCH more difficult to keep them running.

Ironically, our locations just received promotional signage touting these "state-of-the-art" attractions.  Go fig.

Isn't there one of these simulator "Rides" at Dave & Busters in Westlake?
i was there last week and didn't see one... but, then again, that place is quite large..
Yes, Mr. Villian.  They are also at the D&Bs in Columbus, Cincinnati, Suburban Chicago, and Jacksonville FL.  You can find some other places in this thread....
