Rollercoaster Tycoon Boardgame

To anyone who owns or has played the rollercoaster tycoon boardgame, what is your opinions on it? Is it a good game? I collect boardgames and, of course, am a rollercoaster buff, so I am thinking about buying the boardgame. I am a little reluctant because it looks like a game for little kids. What are your thoughts?

I have not played it but the only thing I can say about is that I saw it for $20 and that it takes a while to set up(the coaster stick ups).Sorry I can't help you anymore.

I think it is very fun. It is a little like Monopoly with flat rides and coasters. It is a neat spin on the PC game. Like Willdog said, it takes a while to set up, but is worth it. I would definately recommend buying the game.
I have it, because a friend gave it to me. But I haven't played it.

It does seem to be a lot like Monopoly, which makes me think it's a cheap rip-off. No property/financial board game can improve on Monopoly, so why try?

It's a fun game, and its set up a lot better then Monopoly IMO. Especially seeing as how it has an actual ending. ;)

God bless Intamin, Company that I love. Stand beside her, and ride her, from the opening to the closing of the day.

Monopoly has an ending! When you destroy everyone else, you win! ;)

By set up do you mean dealing out money and stuff? or do you mean u build little things like in mouse trap?

If it's like Monopoly, then stick with Monopoly Jr. It has a whole amusement park theme, simpler rules, etc and is one of the funnest kids board games I've played.

Great, thanx for the advice everyone, I think I'm gonna buy it. Is it a game that all ages can enjoy or just young kids?

The only part that's like monopoly is that you buy rides. Its sort of original. You can buy rides, but there are auctions on the rides also. Having the most money doesn't mean you win the game.

The object of the game is to collect points by having the people ride your rides by the time the game is over. There is a calender which advances which times the game. There are 7 tokens representing people. You don't have a game piece for yourself, everyone can move any one of the tokens.

Its less drawn out than monopoly, and you can shorten the game if you wish by shortening the calender. Its actually a good game by today's standards (today's board games have little creativity in them compared to earlier Parker Bros games).

Why does everyone want to be the doggone car in Monopoly anyway? ;)

Is it the real yellow or the yellow that they had on the coaster cars??

Hey, I'm always the ship.

That actually sounds pretty fun. I hope one of my cousins gets it, some time, so I can play it. Oh, and De,... I don't know where you're from, but in my experience, Monopoly has no ending. My mother tells me of games her brothers played for whole seasons without finishing (which doesn't necessarily mean it's bad... but, still).

If your Monopoly game has no ending, that probably means people don't have very good properties.

We always took care of that problem by having a set time for "wheelin' and dealin'" after all the properties were purchased. After that, almost everyone ended up with 2 or 3 monopolies.

And I am always the horse. :)
