Rollercoaster Record!

It sounds like it would be fun, but...nearly impossible. The planning is just one part, you have the sponsors, you need the parks cooperation to do it too. Having the support of the Discovery Channel probably didn't hurt in getting the parks to get behind it. But...more power to ya! The group mentioned repeatedly here is Team GRP. The rode 40 coasters in 24 hours counting SFMM's Colussus two times because during the Halloween season SFMM runs one of Colussus' tracks backwards. Guinness said this counted as two separate coasters, and pretty much putting any future record attempts out of reach.
Future record attempts out of reach? Read redman's post about the new coasters being built since then. For example, Scream! at SFMM.

I was thinking we could start at Cedar Point then SFQWOA then PKI, then SFKK then holiday world. That put us at 43. Which isnt goign to beat the 75 coaster record. If it was 40 we could do it!

Could hit Darien Lake and maybe the Wildwoods on that route. Or start in Carolina at Carowinds!!

But again, the current record is 74 as stated above.

Again, assuming transportation is airborn (helicopter) and able to land virtually anywhere, you could break the record right now as follows:

BGW - 5 coasters
PKD - 12
SFA - 8
Hershey - 10 (including the new one)
Knoebels - 4
Dorney - 9
SFGAdv - 12 (13? Batman & Robin)
Astroland - 2
SFNE - 8
Great Escape - 6

For a total of 76...and if you were to add in the Casino Pier and Funtown Pier before/after Astroland, that would add an additional 7 next year after Casino's new coaster is completed.

We could start at SFMM, then CP, then SFMW, SFDL, IOA, then SFEG, SFoG, and finish up at SFEV. :)

Anytime I see something screech across a room and latch onto someone's neck, and the guy screams and tries to get it off, I have to laugh, because what is that thing.

I would be interested....after all you wouldn't have to worry about beating 75 coasters because that dosn't count. I have the tape of the ace group from california who broke the last coaster record, and in it, it states that it has to be done in a car or a van or somthing of that sort. No jets or helicopters, and if you break the speed limit GAMES OVER.
Why not just go for the record of being the person who stared for the longest amount of time at a picture of Walter Bolliger?
Outsider, what was said was that they could not break any laws. Speeding is breaking a law, riding in a helicopter, last time I checked, is not illegal...

i mean going by the guiness book of world record standards. they say you can't break the speed limit.
I wanted to do this a year or so ago. I contacted Guiness and the record as of December 2001 was 78 coasters in 24 hours. To do this, you need to have 24 hour footage and everything documented.

This would have been easy to do if a few of the Six Flags i planned on going to would have been helpful. The only Six Flags Park i found helpful was KK. And as for Cedar Fair...they only allow one group to do their park a year to try and achieve this record. Anybody after that has to wait in the lines and then...of course ur screwed. So the only way to do this is DONT...its not worth the heck i went through trying to get everything going....heck i still have all the folders with all the info and still want to do it...but will never as it is too much to get together in such as short amount of time.

But Outsider, there is no speed limit if you are flying...so if you get from place to place via a helicopter or small plane, highway speed limits do not affect you.
