Ok...did any of you catch who played his daughter? Helen Hunt! I didn't know that!

Yes, her first movie appearance ever, I beleive...
I just watched Rollercoaster for the 5th time the other day [on tape], and I wondered if anyone else had caught these two things:
At the beginning, the bomb is placed on the bottom of the track rail, then the coaster runs all day until that track section is blown... Well, that's right where the upstop wheel rides!
Also, later on in the movie, George Segal says something to the effect of 'I've never even been to Virginia' when asked to go to PKD... Well, he was at Ocean View park [Norfolk, VA] at the beginning of the movie!

i think the group that opened the revolution was sparks. if you want to see magic mountain in a movie check out "kiss meets the phantom of the park" if you can find it.

Blast, I noticed the same two things. I thought for sure the upstop wheels would knock the bomb off.

Cool hand brakes on the Rocket.

Although I still maintain "Rollercoaster" is a delightfully cheesy movie, I wished that more parks would have a big fanfare when a new ride opened.  At SFOG, when Acro and Deja opened, it was like "okay, we're open."  Also, I really liked how they got planes to spell out "Revolution" in the sky.

Perhaps more parks should do 'soft' openings so they can plan huge events that go off without a hitch. Problem is that if you plan something big, and then, say, something doesn't work right. Your money and credibility go down the drain.

SFOG did do soft openings for both rides, I guess SF parks are too cheap for any fanfare anymore.

Yes the band was Sparks. I watched that movie about six months ago and still have that song in my head. Big boooy, big booooy, Big,.....................boy, big, .........................boy.
Sparks! The band was called Sparks. I hold a special interest in movies that others seem to find cheesy or outdated, go figure!
Rollercoaster is one of the alltime favorites, LOL! There is some cheese, and deliberate at that, but it is a super cool movie, IMO. You have to look past the "faults", all good things have quirks.
There's good interaction amongst a couple of the characters, especially with That's My Busch!, he's one bothered dude:p!
Anyways, all you would hate watching TV and movies with me. I just watched Disorderlies on cable and enjoyed it, every second. Diamonds in the rough.
BTW, somebody should've flicked a cigarette towards that structure at OV, that would've sent her up! Either that or an M80.
Rollercoaster. Ah yes, what a horribly cheesy movie! I suppose the intent of all the wandering around was to build suspense, or something.

A bad day at Cedar Point is better than a good day at work.
One more useless bit of information to add:

When this movie was first released in the theaters (yeah, I saw it opening week) it had a "new audio breakthrough" called Sensurround. It was basically two 30" speakers in tuned boxes with a ton of power behind them. Quite possibly the first real subwoofers.

Without the chaindog, you'd never get up the lifthill...

The movie is cheesy, but definetly worth watching.

For those Knotts Scary Farm addicts out there, apparently one of the songs in the movie "Calliope of Death" is part of the soundtrack for the CarnEVIL scare zone.

Revolution seems a lot better with more trees like it has now, as opposed to the open fields in the movie.
It looked like a great ride back then, pre otsr's.
