Roller coasters banned in Omaha?

I just read an article about the krug park tragedy(1930), anyway the article mentions that the city passed an ordinace banning roller coaster's after the accident. Anyone ever here of another city banning coaster's.

Edit: sorry forgot link to the story.

Army Rangers lead the way
I love how she rambles on and on and on...and she remembers every last detail.
Apparently, that law was for wooden coasters. Peony Park, in Omaha has (had) a Galaxy coaster. You can see it here in a park brochure.

Not sure what the current status of Peony Park is.

an incident where a family member dies, people usually remember every detail.

She does ramble on. It is really annoying.

Living in Omaha, a park was proposed in the city about 2 years ago so i'm almost positive that ordianance doesn't stand still. And growing up during the demise of Peony Park i must say was just scary. Swamp Fan Peony Park is now a keno bar, a blockbuster video store, a hy-vee grocery store, and a skate park. So Omaha is without an amusement park and we flock to Worlds of Fun in Kansas City or Adventure Land in Iowa.
I'll look around the house for information about the park, but in the mean time here is a link to the dead project that was proposed about a year ago for Omaha.

I would hope he would have realized the potential of a western metro area park off of I-80 near Ashland/Hwy 31 or Gretna/Hwy 370. But alas, I haven't heard anything about this in a year.

If not Papa's Park and Wild Escape, surely someone will come to build along the Omaha-Lincoln I-80 corridor. :( *** Edited 7/19/2004 9:53:01 PM UTC by Oh-Me-Haw John***
