Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 Bought It today at Best Buy!

Just wanted to let everyone know that I bought it today at Best Buy for $39.99 here in Columbus, Ohio! I was surprised to see it on the shelves already! I had to get a new vid card for it as well so I spent a lot of cash! Now it is time to play! Go look at Best Buy if you can not wait any longer!

From what I understand, it might be a good thing to wait considering all the bugs and problems. Nice to see that you are so excited though. Have fun.
I'll wait for 1-2 years before I buy it. Reminds me too much of SIM Theme Park. I'm still having a blast with RCT2.

Yeah, but in all honesty, waiting to buy it isn't going to do much. The retail boxes will all still contain the buggy, incomplete game we all have already.

The first patch should be out next week, with more to follow I'm assuming.

Why not jump on board and enjoy what does work?

As much as I've whined and moaned, I'm still playing the game - a lot!

2 years? Sorry, but even with some of its major bugs, RCT3 eats Sim Theme Park for breakfast lunch and dinner and any other space for food you want to add in there.

I must be one of the few that actually had a blast playing Sim Theme Park. Of course, I went into that game KNOWING it was going to be fantasy. Many of the rides cracked me up. It was fun.

I agree with Gonch that despite all the bugs the game is still playable and I've been playing alot. For now, I guess we have to play with the mindset "If that doesn't work, then don't do that" till these patches come out.

Based on how RCT3 has already been generously catered to many "wish lists" and feeback, I doubt that RCT3 loses the attention from Atari/Frontier to make this game top notch. I'm looking forward to the updates which I guess will be released soon.

I did read a comment on the official forums that peep thought summaries are confirmed in this first patch fix. That's a largely requested fix

As much bugs as there is I'm still going to buy the game and keep receiving all the patches one at a time, I'll still have fun with the 3-D interaction, although I'm highly dissapointed with Atari and Frontier for releasing the unfinished flawed game.

I want the game, but if it really is a lackluster product, then I'll wait for the price to go down. I'm having fun with RCT2 right now, and if I want to "ride" coasters, I have No Limits which I just got.

RCT3 shipped with serious flaws. I think the product Atari released is a joke. Some of those bugs are just ridiculous. Another qualm I have with the game that probably won't be fixed with patches is lack of freedom in designing Rocket Coasters and Thrust Airs. Making big ovals with hills really isn't fun.

Never Has Gravity Been So Uplifting.

I doubt I'll even buy the game. I lost interest in RCT2 pretty quickly. With RCT3, well, I hadn't even gotten interested in it to begin with.

The bigger they are, the harder they brake
As much of it as I have played already I am addicted. I am just playing in sandbox mode to get the feel for things. As the patches come out I will download them and make the best of the game. It is already the best game that I have played in a long time.
I'm holding off on buying it, too. If i have to get a system upgrade, it'll be around X-mas.
the crash footage looked great, though.

I really wanna like this game, and I really will try to purchase it...

...but I just cannot justify paying full price, or even 34 bucks for the game that's really so bug-juiced up, that deterrs it from being completely fun.

...the fun is still there, but they should have just stuck with the winning formula of RCT2, and just made the conversion to 3D with a few new rides, coaster, themes, & senarios.

...by messing w/ the formula, you've deterred a lot of people, made a game buggy as hell, got others thinking it's Sim Coaster all over again, and confused the hell outta other gamers!
...I'll still wind up purchasing it, but only when CompUSA, Best Buy, or Circuit offer it with a decent discount.

I guess Half Life 2 will indeed be THE game of the PC holiday 2004 season afterall!!! :)

Dawgbyte II I do not know that Half Life 2 will be the game this season I am boycotting it because you have to use internet sign up to install game.(how much info will they ask for and what will they use it for ?) I know they are trying to stop people from pirating the game but what if you want to install on a different computer or I install games I like to play multi on all the computers on my home network so i can play with my friends when they come over. To do this you would have to buy multiple copies. So I am gonna wait until someone breaks the encryption (that oughta take about a month) Before I buy. *** Edited 10/30/2004 5:32:47 PM UTC by kevin38***
