Roller Coaster Tycoon 1 Notebook help

Hey all -

My mom got an old notebook from her work that was going to be thrown out (we think its a P-2 300) and I have tried to just convert it to an RCT machine. I wiped the harddrive and went back to the original system configuration straight from Compaq. I installed RCT and it runs ok until I try and save (wether the game or a track) and when I save, then the screen goes to a mess of lines. I can still access the menus, I just have to make guesses as to where they actually are. Even when I shut down the computer and restarted and tried to load the thing I previously saved, the screen still got totally messed up (bunches of lines).

Anyone got any ideas on how to fix this or previously had this problem on notebooks of this generation? If so, ever get it to work?

I'm also having major problems (stalls) every time I try and run the DragonsIoA trainer so I can just get myself a blank park and build.

I'd guess your "mess of lines" is a video card problem. I think I know what you're talking about, and I've seen it before. Just make sure your video card drivers are up to date. (For a notebook, I don't know how to update them. I'd guess look for driver downloads for your model notebook on Compaq's website.)

As for the trainer, try another one. Beast Trainer is cool. As for it's website, I have no idea. lol

The Beast Trainer is on Coaster Grotto's website-http://storm-cloud.eng.cse.dmu.ac.uk:8080/CoasterGrotto/Grotto.jsp

yes, i'd definitly look in2 a videocard, graphics problem, try drivers, and then maybe get a cheap but descent card if u need a new one
