roller coaster shotglass colection

I am thinking of starting a rollercoaster shotglass collection. Could you please tell me if I should or if there are not enough places that sell them. Also what parks sell them. Thank you.

you can get colossus shot glasses at thorpe park in england, but i think it might be a little to far for you to travel just to get a shot glass!

I know HW sells them, and I think I've seen them at PKI. Other than that, I don't know. That would be a cool collection though.

I have a coaster shot glass collection. They are a great thing to collect. The things are usually $5 or less, and EVERY park sells them. At least I have never been to a park that did not have some sort of shot glass to buy.

I got a few, most of the 6 flags MM / PGA ones, and from the UK as mentioned above, Colossus, also Detonator, Air, Oblivion, got loads of mugs to, and the pride of my collection is an entire dinner set, (plates, sideplates, bowls, saucers with a pic of Alton Towers and cars from the blackhole, corkscrew, logflume, rapids, swans etc around the edge. They're from the Swiss Cottage restaraunt where my partner worked before it closed!!

Do you have your shot glasses on display? If you do, what does you display look like?

I have a shot glass collection too and like Soggy says, every park has them. Most parks have multiple ones for various rides. The only park that I couldn't find one at was the Magic Kingdom. I have a Walt Disney World one that I probably got at another park or Downtown Disney.

Shot glasses and those little smashed pennies are some of the most affordable souveniers. I have probably 2 or 3 hundred shot glasses from the last 20 years. (And enough pennies to fill a dozen shot glasses.)

I collect shot glasses as well. Every park has them and most parks carry them for their better/newer attractions. They are a very nice thing to collect and very easy/affordable. The only problem that I have had is that several of the Six Flags that I have been to don't carry shot glasses for their individual park. For example, at my home park of SFA, I have searched for 2 years now to find a shot glass that says Six Flags America, but I have yet to see 1. Anyway, I highly recommend starting a collection of shot glasses.

Happy Coastering!

I thought about shot glasses. Instead, I opted for the lapel pins. Much smaller, I can wear them on a jacket or hat, or I can pin them to a cloth covered cork board and put them into a glass frame.

Thanks now without a doubt I will start one. I just have two more questions I know by the 4th of July I WILL go to both BGW and The Lake. Do those sell shot glasses.

We've been collecting them. We have two shelves of them in the kitchen. Had to replace one from Kennywood that vibrated off the shelf and broke because of the bass in the neighbouring living room. Oops.

AlpengeistBGW,

I can tell you for sure that BGW does sell them because I have several from there, including one of Alpie.

Jeff,

We have the same problems with our neighbors, we have been very good about adjusting our collection whenever the banging occurs though...but it is a real pain in the bass (I didn't realize we were allowed to say that here...LOL)

Happy Coastering!

One last question. Dose BGW sell a drachen fire shot glass. It would be a nice way to remember a deceased coaster and will more then likely go way up in value.

You won't find anything Drachen Fire related anymore

I doubt it...you will have to find that the hard way. Unfortunately, I did not acquire one of DF, so I would enjoy getting my hands on one also.

The 'problem' w/ shot glasses is trying to decide which ones to buy since there's so dang many of them. :) Some parks have at least 10 different designs to choose from at one time.

I have mine on display in a curio cabinet. My collection outgrew the cheezy little rack that used to use. It sounds like Peabody has me beat, though. I think I have around 60, not all are from parks, I get one whenever I leave town for any reason, So I have a lot of Vegas ones too!

alpengeistBGW: maybe BGW has no DF stuff, but I was just at Kennywood and there were still a few Steel Phantom shot glasses and other things. I made sure to grab one for SP and PR.

Soggy,

My fiancee and I have ours displayed on about 10 of those cheesy little racks in our spare bedroom...and that is still not enough room. We usually grab one where ever we go to, so we have some from all over and have one for almost all of the 50 states. I don't know what our count is at, but it has to be well over 200. Probably about 60-70 are from parks...even some from parks that I haven't been to, like PCW (got that one from a friend).

Happy Coastering (and collecting)!

Sean

--if anyone figures out where to get a Drachen Fire shot glass, I would love to know--
