Roller Coaster Factory 2 (Review)

I saw RCF 2 at Wal Mart a few weeks ago and posted if anyone played it. After no replies I broke down abd bought it.

It's alot better than the first one but is still limited. My favorite is the wood coaster although you still can't have crossovers. I believe they added a few more track pieces but still has a limited number.

The steel coaster tha corkscrews, loops and boomerang elements and basic elements of the wood coaster. The one highlight is that you can build crossovers but for a long Steelie you need several lifthills.

New to the game is the Inverted. This is even more limited with inversions (just corkscrews) maybe we'll see mor in RCF3. I still never got one to work although I only built one.

The best new feature is using the land to your advantage. Some areas have tunnels you can build you coasters thru but it's tough to get them alligned to use.

I think the biggest advance is in the graphics. I think it looks better than Ultimate Ride. Plus when your riding your coaster you can look around and see in either direction.

Once again on this game you can't go back and fix one area of the track if the coaster doesn't make the grade. You need to demolis everything up to that point. Although you can test your coaster at any piont durring construction to fix this problem.

In all I like it. Not the greatest but not the worst. It's better than the original (IMO). The wood coasters look good and you can trade tracks online. If you looking for a game to build recreations this isn't it. Looking for somthing to get you thru till RCT 2 comes out and looking for a cheap game ($10) this may be the one for you.

I bought the first one. I was very happy with it. Sure it is very limited, but you can ride front seat on your coasters! The graphics are good too. It has a bad frame rate though. But what are ya gonna get for 10 bucks? I'm probably gonna buy this one too.

Can you put you coasters different colors in RCF2?

No the coaster stay just one color but you can pick different color schemes for the trains.

I also found the frame rate to flow smoothly without being choppy.

I bought the game. I thought you said the inverted coasters only had corkscrews. It has loops and boomerangs but no corkscrews. Did you mean it had everything but corkscrews? The frame rate is bad on my computer. Your computer must be faster.

I only tried to build one invert with it. For some reason the train just stopped on the track although it had plenty of speed (maybe the crossovers were too tight). I like building the wood coasters the most.

It does run good on my computer although I bought a new one back in May. RCF2 won't even run on my old one. I think you can change the resolution and scenery detail. That may help it run faster.

My computer is from 2000 and it has win98. That's why it run so slow on my computer but it's not that bad. No worse than the first one. I like building the steel coasters the most. There are so many options with them.
