Roller Coaster: Art or Mass Amounts of Metal

I'd much rather see a coaster in the sunset than mountains or something like that.  It's a thing of beauty!

They are both I think. There is just something about giant out and back white wooden coasters that does something for me. It's a shame they don't make many like this any more.

Why not both?  While its not a great coaster, Twister II at SFEG looks spectacular at sunset against the mountains.  But with the new stadium in the way, you can only get this view from a high point in the park like the observation tower.

I think coasters look like art when lit up at night. Mean Streak and MF come to my mind

Definitely art, particularly wooden coasters.  You can't take a look at something like Mean Streak, Shivering Timbers, or Lightning Racer and tell me it isn't art.  Like Jeff said, very often it is a case of form follows function, but it is the "function" of the design which makes the roller coaster a form of art.

When I first set my eyes upon Talon, I couldn't believe how beautiful it was.  Everything seemed so perfectly planned, the whole thing just has an energy and flow all its own.  I could sit and look at that thing for hours, although I'd much rather be riding!

Coaster are beautiful pieces of art. The color the structure the lighting its all very elegant and beautiful. The first time I seen Lighting Racer at night lit up took my breath away its i sight i will never forget.  The parks at night themselves  are a beautiful sight. Many times me and my boyfriend would drive by Dorney after a nigh out and sit in one of the hotels parking lots looking at the lights and listening to the many fun sounds.
