ROLLBACK AT PKI TODAY!!!

Hey gang...just came back from a very rainy, and not fun day at PKI..(posted trip report if anyone is interested)! The most interesting thing that happened today was that around 1:00 FACE/OFF, (teh inverted Boomerange coasters) had a ROLLBACK with RIDERS on...here's what happened...

The riders were pulled up the lift hill backwards as normal...but they suddenly stopped, and the ride op said there was a mechanical failure. He said the ride would be shut down, and that mechanis were on the way...

As soon as the mechanics steeped out of the little white PKI truck, the riders were released!

They went through the cobra roll and the loop fine, but the other lift hill never caught them, and the went up maybe 1/4 of the second incline and began rolling towards the loop, when a loud "BANG" went off and we all say the train try to crest the top of the loop and then rollback, until it stopped...

The crowd in the queue were shocked and silent, and the riders seemed to be ok, except for the little boy in gray who was shaking...I felt very bad for him...

We saw them finally testing the ride at 4:00...
That's how it happened..I was pretty scared and I was in the queue watching them...

Mikey :)
WoW I want that to happen to me!

This has happened before during Face/Off's opening year.

The Weather I can guarantee was a near 100 Percent reason that it malfuncted.

The weather has been horrible last couple of days in Ohio and here in Indiana. Winds have been strong as well

Iron...not exactly sure what the "Bang" was...but it was very loud and caused EVERYONE in the queue to turn around just in time to see the rollback happen....

mikey
I think there are brakes after the loop. Could the bang maybe be the brakes catching at the bottom of the hill.

Yes, there are brakes between the second lift and the loop. If you're going to have a rollback, you don't want it to be in the cobra roll, so the brakes did what they were supposed to.

Fcae/Off also did this once in '00.

What's with all of these boomer problems?
First Deja Vu at SFoG
Then Boomerang at SFFT
Then Boomerang at KBF
Then Face/Off at PKI
(not to mention the Goliath incident)

A bad week for the coaster/amusement park industry

Everything above was my opinion. If you disagree, please respond in an intelligent fashion. But before you post,I warn you that some people say I'm just too smart to understand. Please take that into consideration.

Very true KoasterKing but with the exception of the Goliath tragedy, the other storys arent a media frenzy type event.

My guess is that the second lift experienced a failure that the control system detected and shut down the ride. Why the train was released rather than lowered back into the station is beyond me.

Read the Coasterbuzz News Todd.
This sounds more traumatic than what happened to those girls in coasterbuzz news.
What is with all these accidents lately???...

-------------
Georgia Scorcher...OH yeah it's fire baby!!!
I heard that happened on SFDL's boomerang as well.. well.. they just stopped them on the brakes before going through the rest of the ride, and everyone had to get off....

Could it be the boomerang curse?

Yeah. I was at PKI last Sunday. It was really wet and had been raining all day, and we were sitting in line, and I guess something broke down because they came over the intercom and announced that the ride was delayed. We waited about 15 minutes before they started running it again. Again, this was right after it rained. Weird.

All i have to say is this is a bad week for roller coasters. Especially boomerangs.
