RITA - drag stripping

The silly Ride Rita jokes are not ending.

Check out this publicity stunt Alton Towers pulled off yesterday:

And the tabloids even have a picture:

I always wondered what "drag strip" really meant...

Never Has Gravity Been So Uplifting.

Oh joy, the Daily Record, Glasgows finest publication. Maybe they could send Joan Burnie down to loosen her up a bit </obscure sanctimonious agony aunt reference>

On topic, that launch is missing a loop and a couple of spikes... <bring back thunderlooper>

So Rita is a guy?! I feel so violated.

The ride was really fun! Thanks to AT for inviting me to take part in the stunt.
LOL...oh btw BullGuy...Dee has a radio show in Philly now, I tune in every now and then when I'm out at night ;)

Haha no I'm not giving Patrick the finger

It's ok Dave, you forgot to take your meds this morning!! Just kidding hun!
I remember thinking when Top Thrill DRAGster debuted that it would be hilarious if Cedar Point thought to pull of a stunt like this... but somehow I don't think that the "girls" would be able to hold on to their wigs at 120mph. And can you imagine being smacked in the eye with a chandelier earring or a false eyelash? Ouch!

;-)

I don't know... aside from this amusing publicity stunt, RITA doesn't look all that exciting to me. I appreciate that the park wanted to try something different with a hydraulic launch coaster, but I think that this sort of layout and top speed would have been far more interesting if they had utilized the motorbike concept.

I'm behind the woman in red...the b!tch blocked my view ;)
those are some ugly drag queens.

Not doing their profession any good advertising.

I think I just saw my sister-in-law in there :o

-Jimvy!;)

Congratulations to AT!

What a well thought out publicity stunt for a coaster - eye catching, hurts nobodies feelings really, makes people talk, looks fun, radiating positive energy... and people had fun doing it as well.
Perfect.

I saw the video clips of this ride testing a week or so ago and it looked pretty fun to tell you the truth. It just goes to show ya' that it doesn't have to be 500 feet tall or have a dozen inversions to be fun. :) As far as the drag queen promotion: What a funny idea this is. I laughed my arse off lookin' at the queens holdin on to their wigs. What a hoot. What a difference an ocean apart makes them from us huh?

I think it's hilarious, but I agree...those are some hideous drag queens!

Jimvy, were are you this this pic? Are you the one on the far left with the silver eye shadow? :-o

-Tina, Queen of Speed (no drag required). :-D

*Invy growls at Tina in a 'Sean Connery on helium' type voice*

Me do drag? With my knees? :o

-Jimvy! ;) once was enough, heh heh heh

WOW, if those drag queens are any indication of what UK's population looks like, I'm never gonna go over their looking for a date.

I've seen better drag queens, much better drag queens... LOL

I'm sure Sharron Davies is in there somewhere

I'm surprised Paul Ruben was not there passing out bannanas. Then again maybe he was there? :)
