Risk takers?

Even though Vic SFKK beat me to it, Sky coasters are so over engineered its' not funny. As a site controller also I can tell you, as I tell many nervous people to calm them down, each flight suit will hold the weight of any SUV (5400 pound), the 2 flight cables will support 4 of them (19600 pound w/ galvanized cables) and are made from the same cables used to stop aircraft on a carrier.

As for the accident to be more correct and specific, it happened in Branson Mo. Drunk employees, no site controller and they failed to move the rolling cart out of the saftey zone. Employee pulled rip cord and crashed into cart four times(if I recall correctly) and did die.

If all saftey procedures are followed these ride should NEVER be the direct cause of a fatality.

Of course we all know that Bad Things(R) happen, and if the ops fail to follow procedures it could. Could be the reason you have to be at least 18 to be on the flight crew and 19 to be a site controller.

Just a couple of G-Force junkies!

i say i am an adrenaline junkie and then one of my friends who goes coaster riding with me turns to me and say no when you get on a coaster you become a totally different person... he told me when i got half way down the first drop on Nitro i as laughing maniacally as he was sitting there saying "We're gonna die" over and over til the third hill...
as a roller coaster and sky coaster frequenter (i made that word up i think) most of my friends just think i'm nuts. the rest ride with me! i've gotten my kids riding everything already and my 12 yr old daughter thinks the skycoaster is the best! my long time friends are just surprised cause i was the world's biggest chicken in my 20's. :)
I normally try to have the lapbar up one click so it's not tight. Sometimes I do two. Whoever I am riding w/ always trys to push it down! They siad that I would fall out, and I say how can my feet fit through that, plus I have a seatbelt on! Then I explain to them that approximately 3 peopel die a year opposed to how many die in car accidents, as mentioned above. *** Edited 6/24/2004 9:42:14 PM UTC by coasterfreak11***
After a search I have to admit I did not know about the North Carolina incident. But as far as I know my statement about the Branson incident stands.

CJ, I agree completly. Unfortunately, I'm sorta chicken to extreme heights, so getting up the nerve to sky dive may never happen, though I do think about it. First, when I move to Vegas, i want to try their sky dive simulator, which has been the focus of various segments on numerous travel shows. After that, I'll know if I can handle it.
lol,

Heh, I ride rollercoasters to get thrills while avoiding the risk. It's safer than most of the stuff teenage boys do. I mean, how can you not feel safe in those big cushy B&M restraints?

Chattanooga needs a ITG2 Machine!
