RIP Viper, all over again...

I haven't gotten mine yet but I am glad to hear it is finally out! Too bad most of the news is probably out-dated.
Just got it day before yesterday, the "clues" were in the Speed Bumps.  Bummer, in that MY article on Cheetah was passed over in favor of another one...(which wasn't even as good as mine)...LOL.  Ah well, I'll get one in sometime - maybe the planned SFoG coaster...

Son of Drop Zone - PKI CoasterCamp I Champions!!!
The thing about Viper was the turns. They were taken at rediculous curves, and as a reslut the crpay restraints promissed a bang, or two, or three. The drop on Viper was very unique - One of the best at sfgadv. I'll miss it, as when I rode it when I was 11, I was so proud of myself.

Still, noone seems to remember my story on the poor Viper. When Viper first opened, there was a trim break at the top of the drop, much like the Dinn-Summers woodies. The season after it opened, I remember running to Viper to get the first ride. Upon entry, Me and My friend got the front row, first ride. We go up the lift, turn, and hault to a dead stop. Supossedly, there was a power surge and the break reset. Anyways, we just kind of "hung" there for a couple seconds. I remember saying to myself "Thats not supposed to happen". Next thing I know, I heard air hissing, and we slwly rolled over and down. As we neared the first heartline, We were very slow, almost valley speed. Once we made it, the second heartline was actually smootha and weightless! Upon entering the station, There were engineers/mechanics coming up and around the exit path. I knew something was wrong. The ride was closed the rest of the day, and week, and month. It opened in August of 1996, trim free. So my rhyme for the poor viper goes "Viper is (was)trim free, thanks to me!" Kinda Lame.

Anyways, thought I'd get my experience out one last time.

As of last year I rode every coaster in the park exept Viper because I heard of the roughness but I figured if I could take Chiller when it opened Viper was worth a try.

I rode it for the first time in October 2000 and sat in the middle of the train. It was bumpy but had one of my favorite drops and rolls. I love the way you hang in the first inversion. I felt no pain at all and would love to ride it a second time but it doesn't look like I'll get a chance.

See ..... it tricks you the first time you ride it.  I thought it was off the hook the first time I rode it...after that it flipped the script on me!!
I would still love to try it again.
If it is Viper, then y'all still may have a chance to ride it again one day.  You know, they may dismantle it gently and send it to Old Indiana Park.  There are 6 other coasters sitting there now waiting to be rebuilt on the site.  Who knows....stranger things have happened.
