RIP Herb Schmeck

Okay... so I am a little late... but seeing the roll back item for 10/22/1956, I feel like I should be wearing black today.

I wasn't planning on it, but since HP in the Dark is running this evening, I feel like stopping by tonight just for a ride on the Comet.

RIP, indeed. I've only ridden three of his designs, but he was the best, in my opinion.
What all did Herb design? Just curious as to what I may have ridden.

He designed (or contributed to the design of) these coasters.

Although I can't say I really loved the SAT...

Too bad that part of the SATs is soon to be replaced with essays.

He designed Rollo Coaster at Idlewild, but that's the only coaste of his I have ridden so far.

Rollo Coaster at Idlewild looks like the only one that I have ridden as well. Thanks for the heads up on the coasters that he has designed.
Well I would have ridden Thunderhawk at Dorney Park last night, IF they didn't close it at 6:00 because they have Fright Zone set up along the walkway nearby. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.
I've been on Yankee Cannonball, one of his greatest, as i loved that ride, second favorite woodie, behind Bolder Dash, and i didnt enjoy the Wildcat very much @ the Lake. It was a little boring for my taste, not much air either, i dont know what happened there.

#1 Canobie Lake Park Fan!!! M/M's top 10 coasters: 1. S:RoS @ SFNE 2. Boulder Dash 3. Montu 4. Yankee Cannonball 5. Kumba 6. Gwazi 7. Mind Eraser 8. Thunderbolt (SFNE) 9. Cyclone (SFNE) 10. B:DK
The best coaster from Herb Schmek is the Comet that stands at Great Escape right now.
I take back that I have only ridden Rolo Coaster. I forgot to look at the second page. I have ridden Thunderhawk at DP as well as a few others. I agree the Comet at Great Escape is the best that I have ridden out of those coasters. *** Edited 10/26/2004 8:16:45 PM UTC by Trick Track***
I believe the Wildcat at The Lake was completely restored in the mid 80's when HERCO took over the park. If I remember when they restored the coaster they also Reproflied it toning it down.
Comet at Great Escape is amazing.....it is quite close to wooden coaster perfection:) and, since we are on the Schmeck band wagon, i actually had quite an AMAZING ride on Hersheypark's Comet friday night...its usually simply fun....it was seriously above the fun factor fri night.

basically...there is no bad wooden coaster...except maybe if the name Summers or Dinn or RCCA is somewhere in the name:) haha....

Tim....ok, maybe SFKK's Thunder Run is the only exceoption:)

still trying to think of a good signature...
