Rides Being Tamed

With the latest incident of the woman dying on Goliath, do you all out there think that this may cause a stir in congress or the industry to the point where all rides above let's say 4g's will be braked to oblivion?

This is a sad day in the theme park world

If it starts to go through the slow process we call "progress" in the government, we better put together a lobbying group to stop it! Maybe pay for all the congressmen and senators to go on a good 4+ G coaster, install more brakes, then let them ride it again. That would show them how horrible it would make it!

Next up: Stupid human tricks! Followed by: Stupid pet tricks!
Why can that never happen?
Honestly, I don't think Senators would give a crap. I am sure that ride designers will find more new and new ways to thril us. Not every coaster has to have a 300 ft. drop filled with helices to be fun. Vekkoma's flying dutchmans only pull around 5 Gs. I don't think that tyhe govt. is going to ruin coasters though. Insurance companies maybe, though! If some classic rides ever get tamed though, (Shivering Timbers would be mine), the apocalypse may be near though.

Coasters- a little slice of heaven
+5 G is the maximum and will stay the maximum.

Wrong. Why is it that every post you make something up and preach it like the gospel? Do you think we're all that stupid?

We don't need federal regulation. The woman who died on Goliath had an existing condition. It's one of those thing that is just there as a possibility for everyone. It could have been triggered by a quick stop in the car, takeoff in an airplane or an intense game of basketball.

The momentary G's on a coaster aren't enough to hurt people unless they have some existing health condition. If that concerns you, you should stay home in a padded room and be fed by an IV so nothing can hurt you.

By the way, anyone want to take bets that Cedar Point's Wildcat pulls more G's than Goliath?
