Ridefest at Lakemont Park

Tina,

You actually want to ride a Toboggan?

As I quoteth MooreOn after riding Lakemont's Toboggan:

I HOPE the Toboggan is open, it's the only credit I need there and I have YET to ride one of those.

LOL Tina....the brain injury thread is a couple threads away...

Toboggans SUCK!

But Lakemont is *sweet*....last time I was at RideFest ('03 I think) the gift shop outisde of LtD was open....and doing a VERY brisk business.

Gotta remember to kick Coasterqueen's arse on some skeeball during the PPP trip, I have a new strategy that seems to work pretty well for me...:)

bill, despises POP bands without the park's name on them...I collect/save *everything* that IDs the park/trip...perhaps a tad obsessive, LOL.

coasterqueenTRN's avatar
I know that skeeball strategy, Bill, and trust me I have been practicing. ;-)

How can you despise the wristbands? From what I remember from our last week-long trip you never removed the ones from Conneaut and Waldameer.....you kept them on your wrists all week. :-)

As far as the Toboggans.....hopefully I will be too drunk on Yuengling Lager to give a crap about "closed in places" by Sunday. :-P

If I can ride SOB or Psucklone then I can tolerate anything, at least once. ;-)

Rob,

Thanks for the warning. :-) You guys coming to Ridefest as well?

I wasn't even considering the claustrophobia effect on Toboggan's lift....more along the lines of the DROP into the out-n-back section...recommending a painkiller beforehand, knowing your back situation.

I love POP, just want the parks to put their NAMES on the wristbands...otherwise I might as well just get a wristband from a nightclub, LOL...

bill, remembers getting off his first Toboggan ride, at Trimper's, then doing it AGAIN just to make sure it really WAS as bad as it seemed....it was... ;)

coasterqueenTRN's avatar
^Damn. That bad, huh?

Well, I will try any coaster/ride once. If it hurts, I won't do it again. Plain and simple. :-)

Like I said, I hope to be very comfortably numb on Yuengling Lager and/or "natural" substances by then, so no worries. :-P It's party time!

I need it. :-D

-Tina

I've only been on one Toboggan- that was at the Flemington Fair in NJ about a decade ago. The other two Toboggans I have ever come across- Conneaut's and Lakemont's- were both closed at the time. As much as I know I'll hate them, part of me has this strange desire to take a spin. Maybe I just need something new to complain about.

Or I could just complain about the next new coaster that gets announced...

coasterqueenTRN's avatar
^LOL!

Rob are you attending Lakemont, PFN, and/or PPP? We should meet up and complain about all the new 2006 woodies together. :-D

They all suck. ;-) I am sure Phoenix will suck this year, as well as Phantom's Revenge, Tbolt, Jack Rabbitt, Exterminator, and every other coaster in Pennsy.

Hell, even Yuengling Lager sucks. I hear they are coming out with a new flavor next year. I bet it will SUCK big time. ;-)

-Tina

I will be attending PPP on October 8th (obviously) and 9th and Phantom Fright Nights on October 21st. I will be wearing the Wood Coaster Fan Club's new shirt: "Got Rotten Wood?" Look for me and we can talk about how everything coaster-related sucks. We can point out all the things that El Toro isn't going to do. We can talk about marketing demographics and why clones make sense from a business point of view. Maybe we can even touch upon the subject of how forceless and lame B&Ms have become in recent years. Heck, I'll skip rides on the Phoenix to talk about those things.

And Yuengling Lager sucks more than anything. The whole world knows that ;)

coasterqueenTRN's avatar
^LMAO!

Cool. I will see you at PPP. :-)

I agree, why should we ride Phoenix when we have more important things to do like talk about like how much the new woodies next year are going to suck? Let's just skip Phunfest. Let's make a side trip to Great Adventure and protest. Maybe the park will compensate us with exit passes to Ka for next season.

After all, we ARE important. We deserve it, darnit! ;-)

Why stop there? Let's protest in front of Holiday World and Beech Bend as well. Actually, why stop there? let's quit our jobs and go cross-country. I hear the Patriot and Goliath will suck as well. They are not record-breakers afterall. They will make our lives miserable. I know I won't get a patch for my denim jacket for *those* rides. ;-)

I'm not setting foot near Holiday World next year. Three wood coasters and no major steel coasters? They're obviously not conducting useful marketing research because if they did, they would realize that steel coasters are much more marketable than wood coasters. Wood coasters are lame. All they do is go up and down. No Immelmans, no launches... B-O-R-I-N-G.

Beech Bend is not going to be worth the trip. The coaster looks just like Ozark Wildcat, a bunch of silly twists and turns. It's practically a clone! And one train? What the hell is up with that?

Patriot is just Talon with different color. Stupid colors. The patriotic fad was cool after 9/11... it makes no sense now. They should have themed it after a movie or something. And it should have been something cooler like an Intamin Rocket. The Midwest needs a Rocket.

Goliath- who cares? Another B&M hyper. El Toro? More rotten wood. Cypress Garden Starliner? Little A-Merrick-A's Meteor? Coaster preservation is such an assenine concept. Notalgia means nothing to people that actually spend money in amusement parks. And I don't know anything about SFMM's new coaster but I know the layout and the name are going to suck.

To hell with this enthusiast sh**, I'm staying home.

New Huckleberry flavored Yuengling Lager... Yum. Look for the bottles and cans with the Toboggan on the label.
coasterqueenTRN's avatar
^Yum. ;-)

I agree Rob, we should just stay home and not go anywhere, since all the new steels have sucky colors (and names) and all the new wood will just, well, suck.

After all, if you and I stay home and boycott these parks that will send a message and make a HUGE difference in attendance. If we never show up they will learn their lesson.......;-)

:-D

Tina,

As for attending Ridefest, that's a good question. I'm going to PPP with Vacoasterfreak and I'm not sure if we are going to Lakemont the next day. He just went there a few weeks ago and he's dieing to take me to Compounce and SFNE for my first time.

The wifey won't be with me, so you won't get to see her cute lil belly she's got now. She's going to be at a hairshow in Columbus or something like that.

Rob A.

I don't see why you are even going to PPP this year. I mean, Knoebels took out their only major steel coaster and they haven't added anything in years! Especially when Phoenix is only what, 80 feet tall? It doesn't even break 60Mph! How boring!!

I still can't believe they are running only two trains on Twister, that should run like 8 with the split lifts. Slackers!

~Rob "Who is still scratching his head over why people are bashing a ride that hasn't even taken shape yet." Willi

Absolutely. There is no reason to go to Knoebels and I have no idea why I will have visited the park three times this year. Two wood coasters that don't break any records and aren't even painted, hardly any paved paths, a bunch of old flats that no other parks even bother with... what a lousy place. I must be an idiot for spending so much time there.

I will change next year. If they don't add a coaster that breaks some kind of record, I'm going to spend all my timr at Cedar Point. At least they have coasters that are statistically noteworthy!

Don't forget that awful food.

And all those trees-- how do you expect the ground temperature to go over 110 with all that shade? Not to mention boring views from the ferris wheel and skyview... green, green, green... everywhere you look.

That brass ring nonsense, well they should raise the price of all their rides to like 10 dollars, so when you grab the ring it's actually worth something.

And those employees--- well they SOUND friendly, but you know what they're really thinking.
