Ride Operators

I have seen in posts that people comment about the service of ride operators. I was wondering how many hours do they put in a week during the season? And if they ever get to roatate rides they run and is there a limit to how many rides they are allowed to learn in a season?

I work at SFA I say I work about 40hrs a week. Yes we rotate during the day which is good because it's gets boring sometimes operating the same ride all day. At my job there's no limit of how many rides you learn depending on your performance at previous rides. *** This post was edited by spencer scott on 2/1/2001. ***
I work 48-52 hours a week in the summer (peak season). Yes, you get to rotate rides, if you are certified for more than one ride. Some people like doing this, I personally do not. I love working my B&M hyper and only that. :)

If you 16 or over and are interested in working at SFGAm as a ride op, I'd encourage you to call (847) 249-2045 to set up an appointement, or just go to the park on Saturdays and Sundays in Feb to attend a job fair. It's definitely the best summer job you can get!

well, when i worked at americana in 98', i averaged 60 hrs a week. i've found at most theme parks, ops are usually placed in ride groups and rotate rides in a particular section. I was actually trained on all rides in the park except the log flume, so you can get around the whole park in a season

I only worked about 40 hours a week due to my age. I mostly had a different ride every day except during the late summer. Thre is no limit as to what you can learn during the course of one summer.
At Cedar Point we work around 60 hours a week, a little less mid-season when the rides are actually STAFFED, and a little more in the beginning and end. The smaller rides (circulars) are in triangles so they rotate and sometimes people are taken from one ride to cover another but for the most part you're with the same crew all year - which is awesome!
