Ride Op Stress

Yes, I hate denying rides to people, regardless of the reason, except line jumping/misbehavior. BUT, I don't agree with giving them exit passes, especially at my ride because there is a test chair for "big" people, and a height stick for "little" people. They are there to be used, and if they don't use them that is their fault, and does not constitute any compensation on our part.
It can be very stressful! I worked at CP for 3 summers, when the Blue Streak still had the big drumstick brakes (I'm proud to have run that ride the last 2 years it had 'em!) Running a modern coaster is pretty easy. You don't have more than 2 buttons to push, and one blinks to tell you to push it! On the (old) Blue Streak, you only had a few seconds to get the people in and get em out! If you waited a couple secs too long, the entire ride would shut down (safety blocks). Then management AND maintenance would have to come out and OK everything to start up again.

They totally re-did that ride, so now the ride ops zombie out while they load the trains (the 2nd one patiently waits on the brake run).

I don't know what it is about Cedar Point, but it sure gets more than a handful of irate parents mad cuz they're kids aren't tall enough to ride. The Blue Streak was the prime place of drama for this situation! It was at the front of the park (and still is hehe), and it's the coaster alot of folks want to break they're kids in on. I was pushed, screamed and cussed out, spit at, threatened, etc. when I told parent's the kid wasn't tall enough. Had to call security and/or management all the time. One time, a dad assulted a co-worker and he got taken down-town and booked!

They would also try stuffing napkins into the kid's shoes. High heels. Cowboy boots. Cleats. Everything you can imagine! We would also get 3 in a seat sometimes (before the nasty seat-dividers). It was pretty funny, but sadly not allowed, and usually resulted with a train stopped on the lift and a walk-down (and a screaming parent...) It can be a tough job!
