This was more newsworthy than Siren's Curse breaking down (again), since it's a major structural failure of a ride. But holy ****.
These sorts of things happening (primarily) in Asia are relatively common now, but this one looks very nasty.
I am curious as to what the mix is between well constructed rides poorly maintained vs. cheap local manufacturers getting rides into the market that are inherently flawed.
Nothing to see here. Move along.
Same. Wondering if this is a Chinese knockoff ride or if they just never NDT anything. Either way, yikes!
Hi
I don't know enough about physics, but my gut instinct tells me that the ride platform hitting the other part of the arm on the way down probably saved lives. It appears that a good 1/4 of the riders would have been coming down face first until that collision sent the platform back to a parallel position with the ground.
Unfortunately, it appears there was at least one rider who was at the point of that initial contact, and I would be surprised if he or she survived it.

Everything I've seen about the incident so far has indicated only injuries (some critical, not surprisingly).
It is a miracle nobody was killed. Obviously still tragic, but my gosh could that have been worse.

Am I correct in thinking that counterbalancing the weight of the ride platform increases the stress on the arm? (Presumably while enabling the ride to operate with a smaller motor.) There’s twice as much weight up in the air.
I’ve seen that video over and over and truly thought that was AI. Very unfortunate. Im shocked that counterweight didn’t kill someone.
