I went to Busch Gardens today and an employee outside the Rhino Rally entrance said the ride will not open until May 30th. They need more time to get the animals settled into the locations throughout the attractions layout. I guess patience is what we need to practice right now.
When was it supposed to open? I was looking forward to hearing about it. When I went in January they had just started, or at least the site was all dirt and trenches with some bridges thrown in here and there. It seems like a unique idea and I hope it really takes off when it opens. I think it'll be something worth travelling long distance for.
What exactly is it going to be?

"SAVING THE WORLD BEFORE BEDTIME" Powerpuff girls
As far as I know it's supposed to be some sort of ride-through safari with some action and thrill added. The construction site was HUGE; it could be an entire section of BGT and more by itself. But I don't know much more than that and I haven't seen any recent pics. I wouldn't mind getting more info myself...
Actually this looks like a pretty cool non-coaster ride. For info and hype try:

Dam it! I am going to be in Florida during the beginning of May and was planning on hitting up BGT. Looks like Sea World instead.
Yes, but it will still open before X at SFMM!

Oooooh, my freekin' head.... Too many G's Too many G's! No, no, Too much Beer before the G's! Home Park: Knott's Berry Farm
It's kinda like the ride at Animal Kingdom, I saw it on TV down here, they showed a reporter at media day on a local program. They take you thru a safari in a Range Rover vehicle. You get real close to the animals. Then the vehicle goes on a float to go across a river and goes down a track. From what others have said, the vehicle is locked onto the pad by it's axels and can't tip over. It goes under a water fall, that seems like the big finish.
We have to remember that Busch Gardens is all about animals. We tend to forget this because we're interested in the coasters. The ride is ready (besides some minor fixes) but the animals are not, weird. Yeah, I'm going next week and May 25th, so I'll probably miss it.
I'm just glad they're done with it so they can move on to their next big thing. I already sent them e-mails asking them to make it another big coaster. Sure, RR is what Busch Gardens needs for their animal image, but it's got no re-ride potential. You don't hear people talking about how cool the safari ride is at AK. Like, "Wow, we're going to AK to go on a safari ride!!!" Nope. Sure, animal people probably eat it up, but not us coaster fans. Time to move on to something big. Giga, Hyper, XLC, Please.
I live in Tampa and am dying for either a freefall or hyper at BGT.

"Wait! Can't we discuss this?"
Ill be there the first week of June,I hope its open then.
I would personally go back to Animal Kingdom to ride the Safari Ride again. I found it very enjoyable and so did the rest of the people with me.
