Reverchon vs Fabbri?

I was just looking at Reverchon's home page, and it seems that they're not happy at Fabbri's clone of their River Rapids ride:

This was brought up before, but yeah, Reverchon isn't too happy about it. From the looks of it, Fabbri isn't capable of doing anything original--almost all of their new productsare very close close copies of attractions that have been already developed. Fabbri's most recent ride, which they're advertising in Amusement Today, is almost a carbon copy of Zamperla's skateboard ride (Disk'O with a skateboard-shaped vehicle on top).

Something about calling out the issue on their website seems very unprofessional.

Just me?

You just have to love the translation :)

I agree LG that it's probably not the best place to be posting that kind of information. It could've been worded differently like "Don't settle for imitations", "Our river rapids ride is preferred by more showman than Fabbri's river rapids ride", or any of the other cliches you read in advertising all the time. I think it could potentially backfire on them. An example I could think of would be the Pepsi Ad where the guy is surrounded by Coke products and Coke memorabilia and the dog brings up the Pepsi can. Hello! My brain is naturally going to think "I wan't a Coke", not a Pepsi. The same thing applies in the letter. They keep mentioning Fabbri's name, and have it in big bold letters on the homepage.

Fabbri is good at imitating (or copying) other companies products like three of the products out of the Huss line (Frisbee, Top Spin, and Breakdance). Sartori is another Italian company who seems to specialize in copies. They have an excellent replica of the Chance Inverter, as well as many of the Zamperla kiddie line. *** Edited 3/18/2005 4:47:33 PM UTC by Intamin Fan***

Seems to me like Reverchon is gonna end up *giving* business to Fabbri this way...

I might say something like "beware of cheap imitations", but it seems INSANE to keep mentioning the NAME Fabbri unless you're doing advertising FOR Fabbri...;)

Bill,

That reminds me of when Six Flags Worlds of Adventure did something similar by mentioning Cedar Point in their adds. It ended up hurting SFWoA more than it helped.

I've ridden a Sartori version of the Big Apple coaster; it tracks better than the original.

Sean's right. Inviting comparisons to your competition is hardly a good idea. If there's a legal dispute, settle it in the courts. Nobody cares about your dirty laundry.
