The stars of the Mummy series of movies, actors Brendan Fraser and Arnold Vosloo, introduced Revenge of The Mummy to legions of eager fans at Universal Studios Florida yesterday. The new attraction is part roller coaster and part dark ride.

Quite a production it was, too....

TONS of fun, many thanks to USF and to FL ACE reps Chris and Alan for coordinating. Best dark-ride/coaster combo I've ridden...:)

Have to say, I was also impressed with the *upgrades* from the technical rehearsals to the Grand Opening...and I dind't think there WAS any "room for improvement"...KUDOS!

I rode it during previews on Sunday and Monday and then again on Medai Day (Thursday) and today (Friday.) They added 3 audio animatronic characters that weren't even in place when I rode it on Sunday. It also seemed like there was more fog during the final drop.

I don't want to give it away for anyone who hasn't ridden it yet. But it is a blast! And look for the hidden King Kong in the treasure room!*** This post was edited by OrlandoCoaster 5/22/2004 12:09:40 AM ***

I loved it during the "Techincal Rehersal," but, Rollergator, how was it different?

Fun, fun ride.

Wow. That was a really awesome video. You can hear the LIMs in the background and everything! I can't wait to ride it this November.

I was working inside at my hotel yesterday, it sucked because brendan fraiser and the guy who played the mummy were out by the pool, and were tipping people. heard they were alot of fun.
Let me just say that The Mummy is one of, if not the best ride in Orlando. Mission Space is it's only close competition. Mummy rocks so much....I just got back from our trip and I've got a total of 30 laps on it. Perfect! The very end is a little lame, but otherwise the launch through his mouth and the turntable is amazing. It's so cool how they have the turntable! AWESOME!
What are the changes since the "technical rehersal"...?
I just got back from Florida. Luckily my trip was timed just right for the opening. I have to say though, the ride didn't wow me as much as it seems to have others. I thought some of the effects were really cool. The turntable was great! And the audioanimatronic figure in the first room was nothing short of amazing. Very fluid, and quick moving. But the coaster part itself was so so to me. Similar to (but better then) Rock n Roller Coaster. Overall I think this ride works much better as a dark ride then a coaster. It's a great dark ride. And the queue line looks as impressive as anything Disney has done. Was very Indy-like. Right down to the flickering lights. The staff seemed very efficent at loading too. Even on opening day the posted wait time was only 45 minutes. There is a single rider line and one for their version of fast pass as well. The only bummer was that not only could you not carry anything with you, but even fanny packs were banned. I don't mind the former, but always hate when someone tells me I have to put a fanny pack in a locker.

I'm looking forward to riding and comparing the west coast version.

I don't remember this "amazing animantronic" being there in the "techincal rehearsal"...?*** This post was edited by Stitch 5/25/2004 6:57:59 PM ***
