Retarded SOCal Park Schedules

It's very simple, KBF gets the DLR scraps. The park is only minutes away. Hell, you can stay at the KBF resort hotel and take the free shuttle to Disneyland.

MM on the other hand is an hour or more away from there depending on traffic, our traffic sucks!

I live in the San Gabriel valley and work near LAX which is only 30 miles and on a good day can take me an hour to get to work. I hate the 405 freeway!

Trust us we know SoCal.

Nope, and if you looked at a map of our freeway system and saw the route to SFMM from anywhere in LA you'd see the bottleneck one must travel thru to get there.

...as I remember the way you people drive, four miles only takes an extra fifteen seconds.

I live five miles from my office. My commute is at least 30 mins. I don't know what Los Angeles you visited but if you were able to drive that distance in that short of time it had to be an LA in an alternate universe

Now, the first time I was there I was 8, so I'm exempt. I guess I just got lucky this year. Cruised with the flow of traffic about 90MPH from Rolling Hills all the way to SFMM.

It took me about the same time to get to friggin' Santa Monica that it did to SFMM.

Now that's retarded!

That's because Santa Monica is sooooooo sexy.

I think the LA he was referring to was actually Louisiana... ;)

Fever I really enjoy the Simpsons. It's just a shame that I am starting to LOOK like Homer.
all i know is i stayed in Van Nuys which is in Northern LA and relatively close to those locations and it took more than one hour to get to kbf and 15 minutes to get to sfmm. In order to go to KBF you have to go into the city of LA which means a whole lotta traffic. That is all I remember, but i guess moosh knows better since hes been in la for 40 years and i have been to la for one week.

Its a 22 mile drive from Van Nuys to SFMM and a 40 mile drive from Van Nuys to Knotts.

What's your point?

Okay... and in your forty years in LA, isn't it faster to drive the extra 3 or 4 miles to SFMM, away from the city and away from the traffic?

Nope. It's faster to make a beeline for your destination while doing cartwheels.

You want to talk retarded park hours? The parks in the northeast don't have any winter hours whatsoever. Now THAT is retarded!

As far as DL's entertainment schedule, it's actually a local ordinace that won't allow them to shoot off fireworks on a school night. Which is why offseason fireworks are on Fri and Sat. night only and not even on Sunday or any other school night.

Ditto for SFMM's schedule since they mainly appeal to teens, not a smart business move to be open when a majority of your target audience is in school. Much different situation at KBF which is more or less a 3rd gate for the DLR.

I have an old SoCal Guidebook and apparently SFMM was once open daily year-round- in fact I seem to remember posts on a BB years and years ago people complaining and debating their change to weekends only for most of the year.

And from what I've heard you can't even count on nighttime entertainment being offered every night at Disney Parks in the middle of the summer (at least at WDW).

I could never love an Arrow!

So moosh fly to La for Knotts. I was gonna ask this cause i always though that it was closer to san diego, but i live in Ohio and have no idea where certain areas are in california, that saves me trip time when i go. So what can i expect as far as arrival if i were to go to knotts from the airport considering such freeways are clogged with commuting every day.

So considering that if i was at the airport here, how long would it take to get to Knotts from there, if maybe i drove or let a taxi do the business for me, which would be expensive as hell im sure. Just wondering. Plus what is the going rate of gas if i did get a rental car there. Alot of questions but i still have time to save the money for answers. *** Edited 9/19/2005 7:32:25 PM UTC by MagnunBarrel***

Huh? What are you asking?
Like where to fly to, cause i thought it was closer to san diego, but now im pretty sure its closer to la. So do i go to Lax and if i get a rental at the airport, how long would it take and would it affect gas in the car, and how much would it be to refill?

I live in a completely different world here in Ohio and i just need to know when i go sometime in March for next year, sorry for the confusion, but i can trust you know more than most out there on these things. *** Edited 9/19/2005 7:44:10 PM UTC by MagnunBarrel***

Resident Arrow Dynamics Whore

Alot of things have changed since the old days, I still remember when DL was open till 2am every night all summer long.
MagnunBarrel, if you can fly into John Wayne (SNA) in Orange County. It's the closest airport to Knott's/Disney, well designed (easy in and out), and usually has the lowest fares. LAX isn't bad either. Just going from LAX to Knott's is on the 405 and the 91 (both have some of the worst LA traffic) and there is a little bit of a trick interchange between the two. The main reason to go to LAX is there will be many more flight out of LAX than SNA to more destinations. Ontario ONT is another option, but is a little further than LAX, but the fares are less. Southwest goes to all three of these airports.

I recommend using MapQuest or Google Maps when picking airports. You definately DO NOT want to fly to San Diego to go to Knott's. :)

SNA -> Knott's

LAX -> Knott's
ONT ->Knott's

Hope I've helped. :) Remember Southwest doesn't post their fares on other websites, but they're not always the cheapest.

Thanks for the translation, GKills.

MagBarrel - DO NOT fly into San Diego if you want to visit LA parks.

Burbank is the closest airport to SFMM.

LAX almost in the middle of the two parks.

Long Beach, John Wayne, and Ontario are closer to Knotts and Disney.

LAX is only 15 minutes (max) from Mooshie's house. ;)
