Hey

I remember a few years ago I was watching Americas Greatest Coaster V.2 and I saw Raven and how they were saying "bigger isn't neccessarily better" bla bla bla I thought they were lying and making it up. I was like yea sure you expect me to go to there instead of riding a 300 foot coaster at Cedar Point?

Without even going there I know that I was wrong.

Everyone says how great that park is and it has really changed my mind to the point where next year I'll change some of my other trips just to go there.

Has this happened with anyof you with various parks?

It took me a LONG time to get used to liking wood (this summer actually). Having ridden Roar East, Gwazi, Wild One, Hershey's Wildcat, Boss, Villian, and a host of other wood, I never really saw the point. Viper at SFGAm. was pretty good, and people just kept saying "Wood this" and "wood that" so I finally made a pilgrimmage to KBF for Ghostrider. Decent during the day, but at night....wow. I will really never be the same. 10 laps on Boulder Dash and A PPP later I'm convinced. Now if I could only get out to SRM.

I was having a very hard time convincing my husband and son to go to Holiday World. Neither could understand why anyone would go to a park 6 hours away that had much less than Cedar Point which is only 2 hours away.

But at Coasterbuzz con, several people raved about Holiday World (pun intended?) enough that he is going to SRM with me and my son decided to come too. When many people are so enthusiastic about a park, there's gotta be something to it.

CPLady. I can kind of relate to how your hubby and son feel. While I want to go to HW, I still dont feel its worth a 6 hour drive (from Chicago) just to go to that park.

When I make the trip down there, I will also visit SFKK and PKI to. Might as well kill... '3' birds with '1' stone so to speak. :)

During my first coaster trip I hit Kentucky Kingdom, Indiana Beach, Cedar Point, and Holiday World. I enjoyed aspects of every park I visited, but as a whole none blew me away except for HW.

My partner was not sure why we were even bothering driving out of the way to get to this little park with only 2 coasters. Once we got there, though, we couldn't get enough of the place.

We tried to put in words what we loved about the park, but really couldn't. Now we are planning on hitting our first ever SRM and we cannot wait.

Yeah, yeah, yeah...

Do it. You won't regret it. I bet your daughter will love it, as well. :)

Oh, I dont doubt that my daughter will enjoy it. However, I want to hit a few other parks down there so obviously I will make the trek to HW, SFKK, and PKI.

A 6 hour drive warrants a little more variety. ;)

Well, when I visited Dorney Park this year, for the first time, I was so excited to get on Steel Force, I had heard so much about it and how great a ride it was. I think I expected to much, because SF wasn't as great as I thought it was. (But it's still a great coaster, just not as good as I had expect)

So yes, reputation does change opinion. Probably if I had heard nothing about SF, I may might have had a differnet opinion.
