Reptar is 90% complete at Paramount's Kings Island

Posted | Contributed by Shawn Wehrley

The final 360° lower half of the helix is all that remains for Rugrats Runaway Reptar, the junior inverted coaster at Kings Island, to be complete. Coasterguide also has an additional ground shot of the construction and an aerial shot from directly overhead showing a view of the layout of the coaster from overhead.

Hey! It's an inverted Woodstock Express! I mean, down to the turning radii... it's the same ride only inverted!

So that begs the question, will PKI run it with two trains (as Woodstock is blocked to do, even though they only have one train)?

Accoring to Pamramount`s Kings Island`s webcam, all the track on the helix is now in place! From what I`ve seen on coasterguide.com and from the webcam, I think that Reptar might be ready by April 7th but I doubt Wild Thorberys River Adventure will be completed yet.

Sean, Great pictures, as always! BTW, when will www.guidetotheisland.com be online? Also, other than the new paint job on the station is their any sign of Wild Thornberry theming on Wild thornberrys River adventure?

No new news here. I've been saying that since No Coaster :)

I'm glad to see that it's probably going to be ready for opening. Wonder what the opening day lines are going to be like? :)

Runaway Reptar looks like it should be a lot of fun for the kids and family. The large dinosaur next to the coaster should help set the themeing for this new family coaster.
It would also be nice if they could run two trains instead of just one. I don't know if it would be possible on this coaster, but it would help capacity if they could do it.
coastersrz...I am sorry I haven't sent those other shots to you yet. There is new paint, um, it looks like figures out in the woods, all that back run away from the building going thru the woods is new, they installed that stuff in November/December. I remember seeing them unload trucks of that log flume run onto the parking lot right around thanksgiving, and not thinking anything of it at the time, now I know what it was for.

Guidetotheisland should be up within a week, it is the history that is slowing me down, I found about 150 pages of history on the park along with about 100 photos (from the 70's alone), that I have to sift through and decide what to use. Wish me luck.

It sound like the site, once you get it up is going to be one of the best Kings Island sites! Keep up the great work! I can`t wait to see the site!
The layout may be the same as WE, but it has a big height difference. My guess is that's to the account that it's inverted, but those trains aren't 12' high.

In terms of family rides, PKI seems to be the best deal in Ohio.
Reptar looks GREAT! Shawn truly has one of the most enjoyable sites out there. It is fun, and VERY easy to navigate. I especially love the aerial photos of KI's rides. Can't wait for those historic ones!
great coaster. just great. so if anybody has balls and aren't caring about a kiddie coaster, how about an update on Batwing.
what bout SFWoA, the only park in the whole world to have 2 kiddy areas which are both great. SFWoA also has more family style rides, BD, DL, RE, MBT, RWB, all of boomtown, all of Shamu`s Happy Harbor.
What are you talking about CoasterDude27? PKI has 2 kiddie lands not counting the area in Waterworks. So does Cedar Point. That makes 3 "2 kiddie areas" in one state. The two areas at PKI are extremely themed and have several more rides for kids and family than SFWoA-AdvEx, Beastie, PT, Racer, VF, MonS, SRaR, FE, + more. Please think before you post. Thank you.

Thanks ARROW GUY for the kind words, I try my best. Wait till guidetotheisland is up, then watch for a ton of updates to coasterguide.

I hope in my own little way that I have attracted some attention for a coaster that most would overlook. It really will be a neat coaster.

I also have it from a pretty reliable source that PKI will be adding something big for 2002. @002 is the park's 30th birthday. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Shawn, I hope so much that your source gave you a coaster type for PKI and not the "Tomb Raider" dark ride. They are in a great need for either giga, hyper, vertical, or TA2K coaster. One of those next year will make my next couple years at PKI. A big one though.

Here is an idea for Six Flags. Create their own junior inverted and call it Batman Jr.: The Ride.

"SAVING THE WORLD BEFORE BEDTIME" Powerpuff girls
Does anyone know what the height restriction will be on the reptar? I have one child at 48" (no prob.), and one at 36".
I don`t know what the height restriction will be on Runaway Reptar, but I would think that someone 36" would be able to ride, but I`m not certain.

I'm very proud of PKI on this grand addition. Wooden and Kiddie Coaster Capital of the World in the same park. :) :) :) Yahoo!
