Reopening Kentucky Kingdom ready to hire 1,000 seasonal employees

Kentucky Kingdom has scheduled a job fair Saturday in its search for more than 1,000 seasonal workers at the refurbished amusement park due to open May 24 after being closed since 2009. Wages will be $8.50 to $10 an hour for the summer workers, officials said.

They should see if they can get an exemption to pay less than minimum wage. ;)


Or maybe Louisville should follow Washington state's lead and hike the minimum wage to $15/hour.

Seattle's cost of living justifies the $15 way more than Louisville's.

All that aside, I just want to note how many jobs and how much money that pushes into the Louisville area. Money that will be spent locally - high multiplier effects. Means it will create *another* couple hundred jobs because of the boost to the local economy. Even though they're not the greatest jobs on Earth (*wink*) - it will help a lot. WAY more than you'd expect from just 1,000 jobs at ~9.25/hr would be expected to do.
