Reloading old RCT games on crashed computer...

I had to reload Windows XP on my crashed computer yesterday. I know that if I attempt to open old saved games, RCT1&2 will not allow it (i forget the reason). The last time this happened, there was a sequence of things I had to do to "trick" the computer into allowing me to restore these scenarios.

...But i cannot seem to find my old notes on this procedure.

Can anyone tell me what the procedure is?

Thank you!

I thought if you just put them in your saved games folder it would work, but maybe I'm mistaken.

Did you use a trainer in any of the old saved games? If so, you'd need to reinstall the RCTPatch (akaDrexler Patch) to get the files to open again.

I've never encountered this problem with old save files, and I have transferred them from at least two separate computer by now.

Yeah, for some reason I couldn't get 8-year old games to open in a new(ish) computer. Both are XP's. After some research, they worked on the new one for a while until it crashed. As it turns out, the new(ish) computer is totally shot..... So, back to the old one with the 11" screen and partially melted keyboard.

I guess they don't make stuff in China like they used to.

Anyway, I did find the solution here:
