Relative Weight of X's trains

Was looking pix of X and thinking how it has a lot more support structure than coasters of similar size.  Then I remembered that the trains are significantly larger than, say, B&M trains, so they require more support.

Anyone know how much heavier they are?

True
I would think that the trains are heavier than most.  Also, the large clearances that have to be left for the very wide trains require more steel.
I remember hearing EACH of X's cars weight __ tons? They're really heavy...probably making each of X's trains the heaviest in the world.

I don't know about the trains, but I do remember Arrow's president mentioning at IAAPA that the ride itself has a ridiculous amount of steel.

I beleive each car weighs 5 tons and there are 7 cars which makes it 35 tons total! I'm still looking for confirmation, but I remember this from a while back.

I remember reading that they were in the neighborhood of  25-29 tons.  They may be very heavy, but aren't the MF trains in the lower 20s?

The MF trains are 28 tons actually. Doing the math roughly...that would come out to 3 tons for cars 2-9, and 4 tons for the first car with its extra wheel assembly.

That sounds like what I read for the weight for the MF trains.  (Didn't that number come from the Intamin presentation at Coastermania?)

So, does anyone have any solid info (not guesses) for the weight of Xs trains?  I wouldn't be surprised if they are even more than 28.

Yeah, that's the number that came from Intamin at CoasterMania...before that time, they boasted a weight of 19 tons...quite a significant difference, don't you think? :)

Wow I never imagined one car to be that heavy but now that I think about it I guess there is a lot of steel and other parts that go into a car. Very interesting.

Any one know anything on how wooden cars compare to steel?

According to the discovery channel show (Steve Okamoto said it on the show), SD2K's trains are ~10 tons, fully loaded. I doubt MF's are 28.

Why would Intamin say that they weigh 28 then?  SD2Ks trains were fiberglass shells if I remember right.  Yes they are big, but, sitting in them there is a LOT of fiberglass and plastic.

The TRACK on X is about twice the size of a standard coaster too. As is the support beams. HUGE.

I've traded in my 2000 Giovanola for a 2002 Arrow X4D :)
My other car is now an Arrow X4D!
Yes, as Peabody said, there is a big weight difference between fiberglass and stainless steel. :)
