Regional amusement parks expect good summer

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

Regional amusement parks are more worried about weather than the tough economy or drop in domestic tourism. Park operators are confident that they'll have a strong summer, weather permitting, as families stick to closer attractions instead of traveling to destination parks.

Read more from The Chicago Tribune and MSNBC.

I read the MSNBC article. It would be good if they could get their ownership facts straight.

They need to fire the person that wrote than MSNBC article. Top Thrill Dragster is a name, which should be in capitals, and says Cedar Point is owned by Six Flags, Inc. Some things that even a middle-schooler would catch in an instant.
"Despite the uncertain outlook, many parks are investing heavily in new attractions. Six Flags says it will spend $130 million on rides like the new top thrill dragster rollercoaster at its Cedar Point Park in Ohio.

It accelerates from zero to 120 miles an hour in 4 seconds."

Whoa, someone wake me up. I am having a nightmare!!!!!

It is nice to see that MSNBC has such good editors.

My dead dumb (but was extremely sweet) dog is sitll much smarter than MSN editor. Looks like they were smoking crack! ;-)
Looks like they've already corrected themselves. The paragraph Wahoo quoted now says

"Despite the uncertain outlook, many parks are investing heavily in new attractions. Six Flags says it will spend $130 million on rides. Cedar Fair is investing in a new rollercoaster at its Cedar Point Park in Ohio that accelerates from zero to 120 miles an hour in 4 seconds."
