Refreshing Look goes behind the scenes at Six Flags Worlds of Adventure

Posted | Contributed by Chip Wood

Snowy walkways, coaster trains lying about and covered up, the whole place buzzing with a quiet business that cannot be felt or seen from outside the gates. Well, now you can take a peak behind those gates during this snowy off season to see what's going on in preparation for the 2001 season at Six Flags Worlds of Adventure.

We've got some pictures, we've got some running commentary, feel free to come along with us to see how the park lives and breathes while we wait for snow to melt.

Most interesting, especially seeing the trains off the track. You should consider changing the name of the site to SFO; A Freezing Look! :)

Hmmm... I was expecting the posts to be, "Uh, that's it?" The first time I went into a park off-season I was so disappointed! I'm not sure what I was expecting.

Jeff, it was odd. This was my first opportunity to check things out inside the park without anyone else in there. Cars and trucks driving down midways- just weird.

The one thing I did notice about the place though was this sort of 'quietly beating heart' vibe I got. It was as if the park itself as a single body was gearing itself up. Very strange, but really interesting to experience.

Also of note, the folks from the park that allowed us to do this treated us with a lot of care. I don't know if this is part of a new policy from SFWoA, but I sure dug it. The fella that showed us around took a lot of his time to do so and for that I can't thank him enough.

All in all, a VERY enlightening trip out to Auwowa.

No real surprises here. I've worked there in the off-season before. I'm surprised some what that they don't take down High Striker anymore (that hammer game). It was a pain to do because we didn't have a crane and it took about 8 men. Incidentally, street vehicles are on the midways in the summer. They just aren't on the midways while the park is open to the public.
