If this is your first year with a CP pass, you have to wait till opening day to get the pass.
I'm in the same boat. I have to wait to redeem my CP and SF:WoA passes, which blows cause the week before I can redeem my SF pass, I will be in Cleveland for a filmmakers confrence. BAH!

IF you had a season pass last year, you can renew through the mail with this form. If not, you do have to go to the park. Usually Cedar Point's pass office IS open before the park, for processing passes, but I haven't been able to find information about that on their site.
I'd suggest calling the park if you want to try to get your pass processed before opening day, to see if they're offering that.
As for the Joe Cool Certificates, you should still be able to get them from Cedar Point.

if you are coming from the cleveland area your best bet is to just take 90 all the way out and i think it turns into rt.2
The turnpike turns into rte 2? Thats a new one by me LOL. In all actuality if it is your first time and you come before the season starts just take the turnpike and follow the signs in. Or heading up to US 6 would be your best best. In teh summer DO NOT TAKE 250 or you will be stuck in traffic all the way from the mall to CP.

No, but like GoFullForce said, I-90 does.
Don't listen to MagnumForce - he sounds like he's coming from west of Sandusky. If you're in Sheffield, you know where the Elyria interchange is (Midway Mall). That's about where I-90 splits off and goes to the Turnpike. Stay on the highway, which remains Rt. 2. The Rye Beach Road exit is the one you want. If you're driving west, it's the one before Rt. 250.
I drive this route every day - it'll take you about 35 minutes from Sheffield to Rye Beach Road and about another 10-15 from there to CP.

Well, I'm not going to argue semantics, but the highway does become just Rt 2 after being both Rt 2 and I-90 for 20 miles or so.
I'm actually not sure why this is even being argued about, but ....
Getting off of Rt 2 and onto to the Turnpike to get from Cleveland to Sandusky is a waste of time and money. I drive from Rye Beach Road exit to downtown Cleveland and back every day. If I jumped onto the Turnpike, I would spend another 20 minutes on the road. Trust me, 60 minutes is bad enough.
You can't get off the Turnpike at Rt 61 (and if you could, it would still add to the trip). If you get off of Rt 2 at Rt 61, you'll add at least 15 minutes to the trip.
Rye Beach Road is the ticket.

The Season Pass center at CP opens in Mid April for redemption. Check the website near the beginning of April for the dates. If you want to add a JC membership, you can do so at the redemption office (last year we only paid for one JC membership and opted to add it to my son and husband's passes). Just remember to ask for it BEFORE they process the certificates.
We redemmed our passes in April one year on a weekend and waited in a small line. There was no line during the week. Last year, we didn't redeem our certificates until mid june and had no line. Getting the photo passes in the mail this year was fantastic. Except I had to use the same cruddy picture as last year.
