Redesigning an existing coaster.

I remember back when the announcement of Steel Phantom was going to close and all the rumors surrounding its replacement. I brought up the fact that Arrow could come in and re-do the coaster by getting rid of the loops and putting lap bars on the trains. The answer I got to that was, "Their is no way that could happen". "They cant possibly take an existing steel track and re-do it". Well even though Arrow didnt do it, Morgan did.

However I look back on this now and realize that I never brought up the Turn-of-the-Century being redone into the Demon as an example.

Besides the Demon and Phantoms Revenge, what other steel coasters have been redone for a totally different ride experience. I am referring to just the track layout being changed and not the trains.

Obviously Drachen Fire. One of the corkscrews was removed.
The Intamin designed Lightning Bolt at MGM Grand Adventures was added onto by Arrow, I believe. I read in First Drop earlier this year that a Schwarzkopf coaster in Europe was given a completely reprofiled first drop this season.

I'd like to see a few Arrow loopers redesigned with the latest technology. Imagine a smooth riding GASM or VIPER. I'm salivating....  ;)

The Schwarzkopf coaster is Jetline (I think) in Sweden.

The Pepsi Max Big One at Blackpool had its first drop reprofiled a few years back.  Nothing too major - the top of the drop was just pushed outwards slightly, and the entire drop was lengthened another few feet.

Also, supposedly the Grizzly at PGA was redesigned just before construction to make it more of a "family ride". Too bad huh?

The Big Bad Wolf at BGW was originally supposed to be a schwarzkopf design before they went bankrupt midway through the project and it was turned over to Arrow.

I'd like to see this happen to RWB or Mean Streak.

I'd also LOVE to see them take the Beast and make it longer :) Not gonna happen, but would ROCK.

SLCs kick arse (when smooth).
I believe that Maggie had some re-profiling done on it on the part before the turn around. Does that count?

lol, here;s an idea, rip down drachen fire totally! get rid of the succker! redo the station, and then get B&M  to rebuild the coaster same design, elemts and everything but obviously fix the transitions and all that but keep it as close to the original as possible and reopen it the next year with a better access path and 4 wide seating and a lot of the gp woul dhave no clue it was an entirly new ride and just think at best it was "fixed" that way BGW can hold onto the all the theming and not have to worry about coming up with a new name and all that. do it quietly over the off season. ok yeah it IS a bit excesive but the lay out is great looking and I think if it;s transitiosn were fixed and better trains it could work wonders.

Yeah, I think that would be a sensational idea, but if BGW isn't willing to just install new stinkin' trains, I highly doubt they'll destroy and rebuilt an exact replica using the most expensive company to do it.  Guess we can wish/hope.
