Recent SW5 updates?

Up until about a month ago there was much information and photos being posted all over the internet about Alton Tower's SW5. But now I have yet to find any information that is more recent than a month ago. Does anyone have any recent updates or photos as to how work is progressing on this new prototype?

Nothing much is happening, apart from slow preparation for the construction. I think it wont be long before we start seeing track arrive in their parking lot. Alton Towers is my home park, and I'll be there the instant the ride goes vertical!
Its good to know we have someone close! Will you be able to take pictures and stuff?

Yeah, All gone quiet, then again, Alton always spend ages doing groundwork before they put any hardware in, and then, they'll build all the undergroung bits, and do all the main visible construction out of season, so we'll be relying on Matt and the gang at rideas.co.uk for the updates. I'm much more interested in Atlantis and Odyssey though, gonna be a great year here 2002!!
Yeah, I mean the groundwork for Oblivion took more than a year. I'm suprised that they have not made as much fuss about AIR as they did with Oblvion, Iguess it's more marketable. I will try and take some pictures as Alton are not being secretive about this ride. I was shocked when John Wardley revaled it's name, I was waiting to find out a few months before it opened.
Do you reckon it is called AIR?? I don't. I think John Wardley is witholding info, telling us just enough to keep the rideas gang happy, but not the full story. I also reckon there's gonna be a hulk style launch, with loads of wheels!!
You reckon wrong. It has already been announced that it will be call air.

Nah, we know nothin, we don't know what the trains are like, okay there's that site with the 3D renderrings, but they are just someone with a talent for CAD having a guess. We don't know height, speed, no of inversions (if any), and although Alton are getting crap with names-Ugland/HEX etc I will be very surprised if AIR is the final name..... John's not gonna build a tradition of secrets for 8 years, about sw3, sw4, not telling us anything till the last minute, do the same for sw5, and then immediately announce its name.....
He did not just immediately announce the name. This coaster has been in development for something like six years. And now that construction has begun and the coaster is set to open in less than a year, I would say it was a perfect time for him to announce the name.

I really suggest, you put this Website into your favourites, This is the site run by Matt Cross and a few other people which also runs Rideas.co.uk

Anyway, the address is http://www.sw5.rideas.co.uk/

Basiclly, its contains all the latest info reguarding SW5 and has upto Date Construction pics, Infact there are even some there from yesterday(19th June) Check them out, at the moment, footers and work are happening for the second tunnel, and steel work is happening for ths station. At this point in time, track is predicted to arrive about August time. NOTE - Track could arrive sooner, or even later, its only a predicted guess
Yeah, its a top site. Hey Fl coasterrider.....I'm standing by what I reckon for now, but I'll humbly take it all back if on opening day I'm wrong!!!!
