READ THIS: Eliminate the noise!

I've grown irritated at the behaviour of some newer members. We don't need comments about what people should search for, what's in the FAQ or how people spell. That's the moderators' job, not the job of someone who just joined the site a few weeks ago. It doesn't make you cool or fit in, it just makes more crap that we have to delete. I don't enjoy wasting what little free time I have.

If it won't be worth reading, don't post it. Leave moderation to the moderators. Thanks.

Unfortunately, I don't think the newer members read things like this. Not that consider anyone a "veteran poster." I think we can all learn from each other. I've been at this for years and I'm still getting the hang of the complex culture!

Remember the saying, "What's right is not always popular, and what's popular is not always right?" You've gotta learn stuff like that, it doesn't come from good intentions.

A simple thank you Jeff. It's been an annoying weekend trying to post on the site. I finally gave up and went hiking.
Thanks Jeff. I was recently told my sig was too large, so I scaled it back. Sorry for not doing it earlier, I just never saw anyone's posts telling me to size it down a bit!

Revenge will soon be mine on the Phantom!
If you're talking about my comments to some of the newer members, I've been here for quite a while now... Just not under this name. My previous name of Brandon Rodriguez was mysteriously deleted, probably due to the site going down, the email bouncing back, and auto deletion?

Anyways, thanks for clearing it all up Jeff.

One other thing that also annoys me...

Although this isn't my site, I do visit it often for the latest news, rumors, and just overall funness in thrill park & seekers alike.

What I dislike the MOST is how new members post like 100 brand new topics.

A couple of them may be legitimate, but most are either unwanted "NOISE" or just stupid that requires maybe 1 or 2 replys which is a waste of space.

Why do I dislike them so much?
Because the topics that are more interesting, relelvant, and just overall better are bumped down... lower... and lower... and lower until they are in the 3rd, 4th, and possibly the 5th page in.

By then there are very few people reading the topics that a good thread gets ignored and never comes up again!!!!!

Message to moderators & Jeff:
Don't just close unwanted/needless threads... take 'em off completely so it bumps up the real threads!

That's generally what we've been doing. There have been some great topics lately, and I hate to see them get buried under twenty pages of silly stuff.

One thing I'm considering for the next version of POP Forums is a quota system, where you're only allowed so many new topics in a given time period. I own this forum, and I rarely start more than a few topics in a week, so I don't think that would be much of a problem.

Of course, I'll need a little free time for that next version. Yeah right.

OK, let me use some stronger language...

The same four or five people keep getting involved in the same stupid nonsense over and over again. Do I have to sound like a grade three teacher and start threatening to delete accounts?

If you are one of these people, it would be a good idea if you steer clear of anything that I mentioned above. It's easier to delete one account than several posts, and I'm just lazy enough to do it. Get a life, please, and stop spewing your trash about our nice little beach community.

*Sniffle* Me so sorry Jeff!

If FoF got that great of a makeover than why can't I?

I admit to being one who commits the various deeds that Jeff speaks of, but I don't do it to "make myself feel bigger" or anything like that. I do it because I feel that somewhere people need to learn that "alot" is not one word, and other such things like the correct spelling of "axle". I apologize if I have hurt any feelings, I dont do such things out of malice.

I can be rude. I'm going to try to be nicer on these boards from this date forward, May 21, 2001
Works for me.

The stronger & more assertive you are... the more "newbees" will learn the rules of the road.

One thing I always thought that might be a LITTLE helpful (but not an ends to the means) is to put the FAQ right in the same screen as the Coasterbuzz Forums (ie: General Buzz, RCT, Suggestions... that part)... so they can see 'em before they get into the actual forum.

Anyway...
For me, I try not to post more than two at once, and if I do... it's usually only throughout that whole week and well thought out, not just off the top of my head. Thinking... what will generate at least 20 replys... maybe going for a full page.

Hopefully others try to put the same thought when they make a new thread, just so it isn't a "waste-of-space"
Jeff, I just want to say that I completely agree with you regarding some sort of "quota" system, whether it happens next week or next year.

Don't get me wrong... this is a coaster enthusiast site, and I feel it is the thoughts of all of the "buzzers" out there that help make this site what it is. However, there is a line that separates talking and talking too much. I have seen a HUGE number of posts by a handful of people during the past few days, and most of the posts begin as something coaster-related and soon turn into wars about why the person gets made fun of in school, or how everyone who posts should have already perfected the way they use the English language.

I'd like the express my appreciation for Jeff and for all of the mods who make exceptional attempts to keep things under control around here... your hard work has not gone unnoticed! Whatever you decide Jeff, I know it will make things even better.
what a lot of noise, about noise!

Yes, and even though I deleted your post once, you found it necessary to revive a thread that had already faded into obscurity. Way to set an example.
