RCT3D - Tech. Demo #1 is out!

http://www.progoth.com/~darkhelmet/rct3d/demo1/README.txt" target=_blank>http://www.progoth.com/~darkhelmet/rct3d/demo1/README.txt ) before you download the ZIP file and run the demo. A few notes before you try to run the demo...
- You need a fast computer with a 3D card that supports OpenGL acceleration through hardware. Otherwise, you won't be able to run the demo at all.
- You need to have a decent knowledge of DOS to run the program

That's about it. If you have any questions, first read the README. If all else fails, post something here.

Please run the demo and let me know if you run into any problems. Also let me know what framerate you get with your hardware, and your basic hardware configuration.

Please send all info to darkhelmet@progoth.com

Thanks a lot!

Brilliant! I can't wait for the final version with all the rides in it. It sure reminds me of NoLimits. I can't imagine how difficult it must be to delevop it. Great work DH, keep it up mate.

Alternative launching instructions...

Right-click rct3d in the folder you created and click create shortcut. Right-click the new shortcut and choose properties. At the end of the target field, type a space followed by the map you want to load. Click OK. Double-click the shortcut and you're on your way.

So when do we get to see rides too? ;)

Man the system requirements stink. I am running windows 95 so I can't download and run the demo. Why is there no demo available for windows 95 users?
It might work with Win95. Since I don't have access to a Win95 box, I can't test it out.

Theoretically, there's no reason that it shouldn't run under Win95.

awesome work, darkhelmet! keep it up!

I bet it's just me not understanding this stuff, but I can't get it going.  Do you need LL or anything?
wait a sec- i have a 666mhz prossesor and it works fine- are you sure you need 700mhz?

The 700mhz was not a firm requirement at all. It was simply a number that I pulled out of the blue. Technically, it will run on any computer with Windows. Of course, faster computers will work much better than slow ones.

I run and develop it on a 550 and it works reasonably well in medium-detail mode (15 - 20 fps), but performance takes a nose-dive in high-detail mode (<3 fps)

this is pretty interesting. the control are bad. cant wait to see rides.
Getting 35-40FPS on 500MHz pentium 3 w/192MB ram, and 16MB TNT card on medium detail. Looks nice-now all we need is the rides :)
...and people ;) MAN! *gum falls out of his mouth* that is so...(can't think of the word)

First I'm going to add paths and more scenery. After I get those included in the game engine, I'm going to add the rides and complex scenery.
will there be any screenshots coming out?

Chris, search this forum for RCT3D screenshots, there will be plenty to find.

why cant I download??? Everytime I click the download link it says downloading from site and then it says 100%, then nothing
Getting about 35 FPS in medium detail, around 8FPS in high detail, with a P2-350, 320MB, GeForce 2MX 32MB.  Looks really cool so far.  I never would have thought anyone would just be able to build this.  It's awesome!  Can't wait for the rides to be included!
