RCT3 Patch #2 Info

Info was posted today regarding a second patch in the works. It is expected before Christmas. Here's the text from David B of Frontier:

1. Some rotating coaster cars (eg Virginia Reel) sometimes don't render properly. This will be fixed in the next update.
2. There is sometimes a problem with overlapping trains. This will be fixed, too.
3. Stratacoaster braking force - this is too low, and will be increased.
4. Some people have found slow-downs on certain high spec machines. We have found (and fixed) a complex interaction between certain sound cards and graphic cards. We are continuing to look for other possible causes of slow-down.
5. There is a peep numbers bug, where it can report fewer peeps in the park than there really are - caused by groups changing their minds about leaving at the park exit.
6. Speeds of some water rides - these will be amended.

There will be more little tweaks too in the update, and we expect to release the update before Christmas. More details to follow.

These are aslo some of the things listed here on coasterbuzz a while back. Also, Its good they are working on the slowdown and it shouldn't cripple someones system. I am guessing that is a huge fix.
Ok... maybe, and I mean MAYBE I'll add this to my Christmas list. However, ThePantomLives couldn't have said it any better!

I really hope they work on the slow-down, because it just seems stupid that I got a 3ghz system with 1gig RAM w/ a good sound & video card... and it chugs after only filling up 1/3 of the park in sandbox mode (of course, I'm theming the crap out of each area... but that should be expected).... it takes the fun out of riding the rides when it runs at 3 frames per second in the on-ride view (especially at night!).

But also just as important are other features that should be addressed & enhanced that were never put in the orginal release such as sound improvements, peep AI, & graphical glitches.

Why did they move up the release date too?
Also, it seems like these are all pretty minor fixes compared to other things I'm hearing like really bad peep AI and no collective guest thoughts.

I told them about this as soon as they started accepting feedback, and they wrote back and said it worked fine.

I would like to know how it is that the Top Spin and a 300-foot Gyro-Drop have low excitement.

Apollo, the guest thoughts issue was resolved in patch #1.

Or the flying coaster (B&M style) - the stats on that are way too low as well.

I'm barely amused with the game. Previous versions were fun. RCT3 is a "I have nothing better to do right now" game.

I couldn't have said it better myself, Gonch.
Yeah, I'm still playing with 2, but doing some design in 3. I don't understand how a 350' drop tower isn't more exciting either. heck in RCT2, it was too extreme, now its a kiddie ride? And B&M flyers, while fun, are also kiddie coaster now.

Guess its almost time for another letter from Tekno;).

I agree, with Gonch's post too, although the release date was to get people excited about the addition to the RCT series, it should of never hit shelves the way it did, Frontier has done what they can to save themselves. More and More of the game seems flawed then what we previously ran into. The crippling effect keeps alot of people from having any true fun, besides the flaws. I play here and there, but sometimes, its just not worth my time.

I don't understand why these game companies come out with all these insanely awesome games with awesome graphics, with few flaws, if any and then theres RCT3. Of all the game of them to screw up theres RCT3.

It's almost like they are a bunch of Amatuers trying to make a video game. No one ever really had tech trouble with the previous true with the exception of the occasional error trapper.

I haven't had the time to try this....but did the last patch fix the problems with not being able to do load and unload stations, or is that still a unaddressed problem? *** Edited 12/3/2004 3:46:42 AM UTC by CoasterDude316***

Right you are Gonch. Since the system upgrade, which was done for the RCT3, i've been playing more Battlefield 1942 than anything else...

The slow down was so bad on my PC I simply gave up. Admittedly, I have the bare minimum requirements, but even adjusting the settings for it hasn't helped. I can't afford a new PC, so RCT3 will simply sit idle.

I'd rather die living than live like I'm dead

I know exactly what you mean, i have the bare minimum although the only thing i'm getting upgraded is ram and processor and with patch #2 maybe the crippling effect update will help us.

Game may crash if you're not using an ATI Raidon card w/ the latest drivers...

Only reason I say that is that it the game seems to cater more friendly to ATI cards (hense why on the intro splash screens, it has that vs. GeForce or other graphic cards).

I hope the patch is released soon to fix some issues.. but regardless... I love building & constructing junk... and to do it in 3D vs. the old 2D of RCT1 & 2... I'll still take this on top of the prior versions just because it can immerse me a little more, despite the quirks.

Oh I don't think that's the case at all Dawgbyte. The game seems to work just as well (or as bad) with either Nvidia or ATI. Makes no difference really.

But using the latest drivers does, yes.

ATI has had the better gaming engiine in the cards but now Nvidia and GeForce are catching up and most of the modern cards run just as good or better than ATI cards.
