RCT3 Development Survey

If you registered with Atari, you may have received a survey invite via e-mail.

I'd link to it, but you need a e-mail addy/password to participate and obviously I used mine. :)

Good to see they're trying, I guess, but based on some of the questions, I still don't think they know quite where they should head with the game. Sounds like they have users split into two distinct camps - people like us around here who generally dislike the game and people like many users on the Atari forms who just keep wanting bigger, prettier, more.

Some of the ideas were downright silly (actual real life celebs visiting your park) some hinted at further expansions along the lines of soaked (hotels, movie studios, ski resorts, etc) and asked about what types of rides you'd like to see added. It even mentioned managing 'real life' parks mentioning several by name.

I dunno, just thought I'd mention it. Check your inbox if you registered, you might have an invite. Definitely take the opportunity to tell Atari what you think of the game and what you'd like to see in the future.

Hmm...I registered, but I didn't receive any mail. How about a game that won't burden even the most robust video cards if you have more than three rides in a park?

There were questions about your system. Also sections to rate various game items on a scale of 1 to 10 and some of those were performance related.

I was very honest. I let them know what I liked and what sucked.

Quite interesting, I'm regeistered as well, I didn't get anything, Is there a link? I have my own username and password, but do you have a link? or does the stie? I have a few words to put in as well, as all of us do.

A personal password is included in the email invite. Here's the text of the invite (I changed the password):

Dear Atari Gamer,

Here at Atari, one of our most valuable resources is you, the player. So, we'd like you to help us prepare for an upcoming RollerCoaster Tycoon game.

We want to hear your opinions -- we've selected
RollerCoaster Tycoon fans and players to take a short survey, which takes about 10-15 minutes to complete. Have fun, and thanks in advance for your participation.

This survey is being conducted by Penn, Schoen and Berland Associates, Inc., an independent national public opinion firm.

YOUR PERSONAL PASSWORD IS: XXXXXXXXXXXX

Confidentiality:
Your answers, and ANY personally identifiable information about you, will remain completely confidential and will not be shared or sold to any other organization. Additionally, all information provided will only be viewed in aggregate with other respondents' information, and never on an individual basis.

If you want your voices heard, just email them--you'll have your comments read individually (not as an aggregate, which the survey probably provides them with), and you're almost guaranteed a response within 24-36 hours. I sent Atari an email regarding the friction on the rides, and the "low friction" tick box showed up in the next patch... despite the responses from Frontier staff in the forums, the companies as a whole do care about your suggestions and comments on the game.
Eh I never registered even with RCT1 & RCT2, I always found it just to be a waiste of time and a pain in the arse to me.

Please don't tell me you're implying that it was added because of your e-mail. Please.

That was one of the biggest complaints on the Atari forums.

Also, probably 50% of the survey was blank boxes to fill in ideas, suggestions, additional comments, etc. There's no way to those can be read as an aggregate. (especially with my comments about the girls boobs on the proposed Soaked box :) )

But still, Phantom Tails is right. Drop them a line and let them know what's wrong with the game. The survey certainly made it seem like they want to fix it, they just don't seem to know who to listen to.

Hey, I don't have *that* big of an ego! :) My point was that the problem was fixed, and they did send an email back telling me that they were going to fix the problem in a future patch. Please excuse the poor wording...

The point he was making was that they are open to our ideas and problems with the game, although the feedback has been more helpful. IF alot are complaining and requesting fixes of the same manner, it usually gets fixed. All messages make a differance.
I received said survey email. I wonder if they take notice of 1's and 2's, or if they think it's just someone messing around and not sending a real response.

I filled in all of the comments boxes to back up my scores. But so bitterly have I been dissapointed with the game I wasn't going to cover it up.
