RCT2 question

Is there anyway to play RCT2 in a window rather than full screen mode. And before someone makes a smart comment I mean a window on the computer monitor.

Depends on weather or not the window has blinds on it or not.

;)

I really don't think it can.

Try pressing ALT-ENTER. That's the default window shortcut to switch between full-screen/windowed mode since way back in Windows 3.1. I've seen an app or 2 that intercepts the shortcut and won't allow it, but most do.

Warning: Almost every game I've played in trying to do this will crawl in windowed mode since the graphic card has to render the game, AND everything else, AND re-size the image being output to the game window.

Whoa, what technology are you running on? most AGP cards won't do that, unless your running something like G-force visualizations for Windows Media, most will run just fine no matter what. Plus, theres not much to render in the backround beside whats there, its not like something is moving except what your playing in. I've done this numerous times, and have never had what you just said.
It has nothing to do with the type of card you're running, it deals more with processor speed, RAM, and how much "stuff" you're running at any given time. I've switched back and forth between RCT2 and my desktop before with no other applications running, and even that slows down my brand new machine. The number of applications running might affect the frame rates that you're receiving for each program, but your graphics card does not affect how well your computer switches between them.

It sure as hell does. The ghetto video hardware found in most laptops does a poor job even at drawing basic Windows UI elements.

laptops, are a whole 'nother story put together. I suppose it does depend on what specs you have.
I wasn't talking about the ALT-TAB switching between RCT and the windows desktop.. I was talking ALT-ENTER to toggle between fullscreen/windowed mode.
