RCT2 Help

Beleive it or not, I have not yet purchased, or even played RCT2 yet.

Since I just bought a brand-spankin' new Dell computer, I'm going to buy RCT2. The question is should I buy Wacky Worlds as well? A lot of the buzz around here is that WW isn't very good.

Is there anything I can do on WW that I can't do with RCT2 (besides the extra themeing and scenarios, of course). And secondly, are there any little bugs in RCT2 that I should be ready to combat?

Well since WW and RCT2 come in a bundle if you will, i would suggest getting it because its a little extra and you get much more stuff that you may or may not find useful. Either way its a GREAT game!

#1 Canobie Lake Park Fan!!! M/M's top 10 coasters: 1. S:RoS @ SFNE 2. Boulder Dash 3. Montu 4. Yankee Cannonball 5. Kumba 6. Gwazi 7. Mind Eraser 8. Thunderbolt (SFNE) 9. Cyclone (SFNE) 10. B:DK
I had the choice of time twister or wacky worlds knowing eventually I would get the other and I chose time twister but of the people who have both- the majority of the people like wacky worlds better.I like tt just fine-but having never played ww I would go with the majority.I hope this helps.

You can get the RCT2 'Deluxe' package for virtually the same price as just RCT2. If you look around, you can find a lot of good deals out there. For me, the expansions were not worth it. They're ok, however, if you like to complete scenarios. The original RCT2 scenerios should hold you for a while.

There are a few things that got on my nerves in RCT2, but the benefit of building better coasters made up for it.

Blockbrakes, banked curves and some of the new coasters (Schwarzkopf Speedracer, Intamins and especially the Reverchon spinners)really added to the game.

The stackable scenery takes time to get used to and it can end up looking messy unless you are very patient and creative.

You might have heard that the landscaping tool is absent in scenario play, which is really annoying.

However there are a few things where the game seems unfinished and hastily done. (wether of lazyness or other factors)

For example: try to build a Roto-drop higher than 50 ft and the stats get extremely bad.

In larger parks you might have up to 7000 peeps, if you open a new attraction about every peep will turn to a zombie and will want to ride (ok, quite realistic).
So you have to build massive queues that accomodate up to 400 people. Even with super capacity, the queue will overflow and peeps will become unhappy. Peep-patience is still as low as in RCT1, after 15 minutes standing in line, peeps will either leave or won´t enjoy the most exiting (11+) coasters.
After a few weeks, your best high-capacity rides will barely attract enough people to fill one train, while fairly uninteresting rides will still have a full line.

Sadly, building a flashy new coaster will not bring in any new peeps to your park. You will have to promote the park constantly (advertising a ride doesn´t help IMO).

Why invent first aid booths when sick people won´t use them? They have as well a hard time to find the restrooms and the cash machines. This CAN get annoying.

With Wacky Worlds it really got bad. Its one thing to ignore the thousands of fans who bombarded the producers with wish lists of what they really wanted in the game. I can somehow understand this, as Atari seemingly thought that they wanted to market the game to younger kids (its their incompetence to judge the real audience). But when you see the sluttiness which went into the design you really feel cheated.

The "best" example is this "bus coaster" thing: A bus that runs on Intamin hyper track, (bad enough) but the designers were too lazy to animate the "banked curves"! This ride looks like a bad hack, which is an insult to the game and the enormous prize the game was sold for.

This is just one example for some really unuseful and unrealistic additions WW offered, besides the awful and uninspiring scenarios.

After getting WW my interest in the game rapidly dropped. (I missed out on TT)

But as I said, the "block brakes" alone will let you build great coasters and will make you enjoy the game despite its flaws.

Two bugs I have noticed are once you build a Giga style coaster or twin racing woodie. If you try to re-design them the game shuts down, the old exception error raised message. I don't know if there is a patch for this.

There is a trainer that gives you the mountain/ditch builder tool in game play. There are some other features too like increase money ect..

In my opinion Wacky Worlds was garbage.most rides made no since or should have been a different style. ex. stage coach ride should have been a mini-car complete with horses. Instead it's a woodie train.

Time Twister slightly better with one ride that could qualify as new even though it too was really a retheme of one we already had, the double deck carousel. Other re-themes completely missed the point of RCT, the Black Death coaster is a train of rats(black plague) in a bobsliegh.

Amazing Earl, who has since retired, and several others have created custom flat rides which like the WW and TT flats are re-themes of the original rides but in this case they make since. Ex. tilt a whirl, generic tea cups, ect...
