RCT running problem (HELP!!!)

Ok here's the problem. The game itself is running fine. When the game starts up it opens in its own window. I can maximize it to fit the screen but its still in the window making impossible to scroll with the mouse. I went to the options in RCT and tried to change from windows to 600x800. It won't let me change it! Does anyone know what to do? PLEASE Help!!!

Try changing your desktop color depth to 256 colors... you might have flakey video drivers. Also, you can move around in window mode by right-clicking and dragging.

I tried to change the colors from 16 bit to to the 256 but it wouldn't let me. :( it told me to check in the device manager. 8( I hate computers!
