RCT on the Xbox!

I was looking thru the Xbox games @ EBworld and came across this http://ebworld.com/ebx/categories/products/product.asp?pf_id=232670 looks like it ships on 3/18. No info on the game either so who knows if it will be RCT or RCT 2. I guess we'll find out more as we get closer to it's release.

Awsome.

I wonder if it will be on any other game systems.

-----------------

Since it is on a system, I wonder if there would be any new features or changes...

-----------------
I lost my hat on Poison Ivy. How pathetic.

I bet not. I'd imagine all the features from the PC game (probably RCT 2), but nothing overly different.

I say that because I bought Railroad Tycoon 2 for Dreamcast a little while back. Just the same thing as the game for the PC.

Didn't we find that out in early September or August? Since we were scrambling to find new news then, someone came across it coming out on XBOX© on a UK site and a guess we forgot about it.

You're not going to import a game that looks & feels like it's from 1998 all the way down to the block graphics, sprites for peeps, and just downright plan-looking isometric graphics.

If you're going to put something on the X-Box, the least you can do is make it 3D, or at least the upgrade that everyone was expecting the PC-Version of RCT2 to be... kind of like using the Sim City4 engine (unless that's stretching it).

I, for one, would be severly disappointed if it even remotely resembles the current RCT, for as powerful of a piece of hardware that X-Box is.......
It's sad enough that most games now require a minimum of a 500mhz processor (1gig recommended), and RCT2 didn't ante up the requirements.....

Hmm... I wonder if they would make it for PS2 also. I know back in the day they had theme park for PS1.

The X-Box is a PC, and an average one at that. The average gaming rig can bury it. Why should RCT be any more than it already is? Am I wasting my time on my GeForce4 PC with the CPU running three times the speed of my X-Box? I don't think so.

RCT doesn't need to be 3D just for the sake of being 3D. There's no logic in that. It's like all of the people who used to use Java and Flash on their Web sites just because they could.

It will be the first one because it does not say 2 on it

HERE THEY ARE....

Fresh screens of RCT for the X-Box.

Umm... I guess everyone was right...

Its just a port. :( A definate definate straight port. This badboy better not cost over $25.00

yup, they said that it would be the same as the pc version when they first announced that it would be coming to the XBOX system. it was on IGN or Gamespot.

Of course it's a port, why wouldn't it be?

There isn't a single reason why RCT has to be a 3D engine-based app. Not one. There is no way it could ever have reached the level of performance it does that way.

That's the even sadder part. Not only a game from 1999, but a game seriously outdated for it's hardware.

I really doubt it's going to sell well unless it has X-Box exclusive features... and judging from IGN & Gamespot's previews... that looks like a no-go.

I just have to wonder why they are importing a very PC-likeable game to the X-Box... and please don't tell me that X-Box is just a portable PC, because it really was meant to be a game console. What I mean is that a very mouse-driven game (ie: Sim City, Civilization... etc), ported to the consoles are a tough sell because they're two different crowds.

I wish all the luck, but I have the feeling it'll be a poor seller, since
a) It's dated from the PC's RCT2,
b) nothing special about this game is different from the PC original
c) the hardware is not being taken advantage of, which will piss off X-Box owners (believe me, check on gamespot forums)... and
d) The critics that review games will rip on this, if they get a copy.

The question for Inforgrames was never why they should port, but why not? The only think they had to change was the UI, which was all broken out in seperate logic (according to sawyer, who said that seperate C++ classes were used to interact with the DirectX API's). That means very little work, and expense, to try and sell more copies of the best selling PC game in the last few years to a new audience. Sounds like a good business decision to me.

It's nothing new to PC audiences, but it is new to a console audience.

As far as something not taking advantage of the hardware, I see that all of the time in X-Box forums, and find it ridiculous. Those are the kids buying a gadget, and they're the reason that beautiful games like Dead or Alive Volleyball get made. Pretty to look at, makes the hardware shine, but the game itself sucks to play. Games like GTA3 are released on PS2 hardware vastly inferior to GameCube and X-Box (I should know, I own all three), but they get good reviews because they're fun to play. I mean, Tetris and Pac-Man are fun to play, even on my ridiculously high-end PC rig, despite the old, original graphics.

Any game you can sit down to play.... and hours later your still playing is a good game?

So Jeff.... are you saying you played DOA Beach Volleyball? I'm still figuring out the controls.

Right now I'm hooked on Metroid Prime though! :)

Nope, I haven't played it, but the reviews have all been pretty bad as far as game play (despite lots of "jiggle"). I wouldn't buy it anyway because I have Sega's Beach Spikers for Gamecube, which I consider the "Virtua Tennis" of the volleyball world.
