RCT: CF Broken Again

RCT with Corkscrew Follies is broken again.

I started it with a trainer (TRG) but it wouldn't work. So, I installed the Drexler thing (my RCT.EXE had the latest official update), but then I got an error when the game tried to load the main screen. So, I copied RCT.1 from the CD and renamed it RCT.EXE but I still had the problem, so I installed the newest patch from rollercoastertycoon.com but I still had the error, except it happened when I clicked "NEW GAME". Now I'm back to the error when I try to get to the main screen. The error is:

TITLE: Error Trapper
MESSAGE: Exception Raised - Access Violation
Error Location: Unknown

I click OK and RCT goes away. Help!

You can't copy rct.1 from the CD in CF/LL. You have to install, and patch the .exe (after copying it and backing it up)

Exactly why I don't use trainers - I'm too spooked that I'd lose my progress through the scenarios!

my advice as always:
delete everything rct related including the trainer.....
install rct from the ground up
I'd suggest not installing any "official" patches unless it is nessicary for you to do so. the official patches are just more things to deal with that can cause problems. then install the drexler patch... and I'd try finding a new trainer
