RCT 3 question

I'm trying to build a Paddle wheel boat ( like the one Carowinds used to have as well as the one at the Disney parks) transport ride and after building 2 or more stations and trying to test I get a message that there is no route between stations. When building the ride there is no option for laying track. I have also noticed this with the air boat transport ride. Am I missing something or is this a bug in the game. Other transport rides like the elephant and monorail have track options but they never are highlighted for me on the ones I mentioned above. The only highlighted items are the station and the option to build a separate station in a different location. Any help would be appreciated.
check water depth and channel width between stations. Check to be sure there is enough room at both ends of each station for the vessel to exit/enter and that there is enough room for it to turn around (if need be). If you are doing this in sandbox mode, try using a wide open lake first to experiment. If you are in a scenario, you might want to be sure you have an alternate route between the two stations.
Well I stopped getting that message the boats sort of free steer. Funny thing is that I have 3 stations 2 of which the boat leaves and goes to the next station in that direction. The third boat, however, leaves its station and immediately does a u turn and goes in the opposite direction towards an oncoming boat. They give way to each other to pass and then the boat going the wrong way by passes the next station and continues on to the one it should have gone to but in the other direction. The distance is shorter in the direction it should've gone. Lastly yhe boat it passed also does a u turn at the same station the first one did. Wierd.

In another thread I mentioned seeing fish as well as something that appeared to be a crow. Now I have seen white sea gulls. Anybody seen any other non attraction/ animal display creatures in their parks.

Edit: I just read thru some threads over at Atari. While they don't mention sea gulls or crows the do mention the fish and say that you can have sharks and sting rays in the water if its deep enough and has a sandy bottom. Someone said that you also need to have the water go off the map edge while someone else disagreed. Anyway its something to add a little fun to the game to see if you can attract sharks. *** Edited 3/14/2007 3:21:49 AM UTC by john13601***

jshorezd nailed it. Be sure the water is deep enough. It often needs to be deeper and wider than it seems.

The reason the third boat is pulling the U-Turn is probably because there is not an acceptable (deep & wide enough) route continuing in a circular motion.

Well after waaaaaay too much testing here's what I found:

1 The boats actually travel toward the shallowest water

2 They also like to hug the shore

So it doesnt have to be too deep or very wide a body of water

I finally figured out why the boat was U turning. There was a bridge across the water that wasn't high enough for clearance between the third and first station. After raising the bridge VERY high the boats will travel from one station to the next in order with no U turning.

Yup. A Bridge would do it too. :)

Sink the canal down a bit (so guests have to walk down stairs to reach the boat ride entrance) and then the bridges aren't so silly.

Yes the boat not going under a bridge without the proper clearance makes sense. The boat going straight though a roller coaster track at wateR lever does not. Oh well that's RCT 3.
Sounds like a common amusement park problem to me ;)
